Hi,

I was recently diagnosed as having Flat Back Syndrome, scoliosis. My back

problems started in the late 1980's when I had broken a vertebre in my lower

back L4-L5 was fused using bone, screws, wire etc. In 1993 I was outside my

disabled vehicle on the highway when a pickup truck lost control, doing like 70

mph on the icey road, and struck me. I somehow survived and my upper back was

broken in a few places. They put it back together using harrington rods (T10-11

area). I've been in pain since my first back surgery, really in pain since the

truck. my only hope for pain relief was a pain clinic contract since my GP or

surgeon didn't want to keep writing my scripts for pain meds. the pain clinic

talked me into having a pain med pump inplanted in my abdomin with leads routed

to my back pain areas. the last four years or so i've been more and more bent

over but no doctor could tell me why until my husband made an appointment at the

UW madison medical spine clinic and I saw a speciallist there (the other doctors

were so-called specialist also). Now that I'm under contract with the pain

clinic and have the pain pump (DON'T EVER GET ONE!) i'm teated like I have the

plague by surgeons and they don't want to touch my and give me little hope of

ever being upright again. My flatback syndrome has only been apparent these last

4+ years. Is there any physical therapy that can help me? Any good specialists

in my area of Elkhorn, WI. I could see that would help me. I'm trying to get the

pump turned down until they can remove it.
