I am now 51 years old and have been on allergy shots since I was 5. I

have never had any kind of reaction before xolair and after.

Wow, Doug! You've never even had a local reaction to allergy shots at

the injection site? I had local reactions from the very first shot,

which was so diluted that it was basically water! You can imagine what

my arms started looking like as I kept increasing the dose! I tend to

fall into the more sensitive group though, especially when it comes to

my skin.

Thanks,

I have been on and off allergy shots any number of times. The last

round started about 8 years ago with the doc I have now. We were

never able to get me on a maintenance dose because of my local

reactions. Once I started seeing improvement with Xolair, we

stopped the allergy shots. They made me feel lousy for 1-2 days

after with only a mild level of improvement. That was 2 years ago

and I haven't seen the need to start them again.

Good luck and take care,

Thanks for the replies, Doug, Linn, & Addy -

I'm just trying to figure out if the Xolair might eventually reduce

my local reactions to the allergy shots when the Xolair begins

to " settle in " to my body. I'm curious if this will be kind of a

first sign that it's beginning to work. Do you see what I mean?

I take antihistamines several times a day, and this helps reduce the

local reactions to the allergy shots a little bit, but I still have

local reactions every single time. Like Addy, I cannot reach a " true "

maintenance dose because of increasing symptoms afterward. I had to

stop at a maintenance dose which is only about halfway through the

second to the last vial (.35 - yellow vial). My doctor hopes that he

will be able to begin increasing my allergy shot dose again once the

Xolair kicks in.

To reiterate, I am not concerned about the local reactions at all.

This is normal for me, and is to be expected because of how sensitive

I am. I just want to know if Xolair has reduced local reactions to

allergy shots for anyone.

Thanks again!
