Guest guest
Ron - sorry to hear that you are so debilitated by your symptoms and evil candy. Have you gotten hold of the book " Coping with Prednisone? " It is a great resource for how to fight off side effects, cravings, and other evil candy issues. Guest guest
I just got through reading this book. It is well worth taking the time to read it. It helps. ~STEVE ZIMMERMAN, CPM, CVOM~ ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of pyle456 Sent: Sunday, July 09, 2006 11:07 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Relapse, information request RE: Evil Candy Ron - sorry to hear that you are so debilitated by your symptoms and evil candy. Guest guest
Hi Ron, In regard to the muscle weakness, I believe the term you're looking for is probably " muscle atrophy. " I had problems with this after being on 40-60 mg of prednisone for only 3 months. I was basically one big noodle by the end of that course of steroids. I could barely raise my arms to wash my hair, and I had to use a stool in the shower because I couldn't stand for very long. From what I understand, you are supposed to take steroids in the morning to keep your adrenal glands working. One of my doctors prescribed them at 7 am and 12 pm (noon), but no later than that. When things got really bad for me, I started splitting the doses throughout the day, but I think you're supposed to avoid this if at all possible! Maybe that's why I got so bad so fast! I'm sorry you're having such problems. I hope things start getting better soon! , 32, Louisville
Guest guest
Thanks, When I got out of the hospital my legs were so weak I fell a couple of times. Lowered my Prednisone dose and I got my strength back. I am now borderline weak, at 20 mg I have every side effect Prednisone has to offer LOL My daughter just called furious with my Dr, she agrees that it is to be taken in the morning, I'm going to make the transition. (she took high doses for a couple of years) I ordered the living with Prednisone book, I had it some time back and " loaned " it to a friend that apparently needed it more then me, they still have it. I'm confident things will get better, if not I can live with one day at a time! I'll just do what I have to do. Things could be far worse, I'm actually lucky I'm in as good shape as I am considering the life I have lead!
