Guest guest
i laughed at your " i bruise if you pretend to hit me " . my husband swears my friends must think he beats me cause i've got so many bruises!!!! and i haven't had ANY pred since last summer!!!! i do notice an increase in bruising when i increase my ICS -- so i suspect this bruising is from my regular dose of advair...a small price to pay to breath - LOL heather pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: , THank you for sharing A lot of us have had similar experiences to yours while coming off prednisone. Guest guest
I too am just on hi-dose ICS, no prednisone, and bruise very easily, just by a book edge gently brushing against my arm of had or a gentle brush against furniture. I was also getting frequent skin tears from trivial insults, as little as brushing a fingernail along the skin or brushing my arm aginst a doorframe or a purse strap dropping off my shoulder to my forearem. Some of these become quite infected.Had to learn a new way to care for my skin from the skin care clinic - steristrips to close wounds. This has made a big difference. But now these pesky skin tears are pretty much out of my life since my doc recommended taking 1000 mg vitamin c daily - it actually works. He then had me bump up to 1000 mg twice daily to see if I could reduce the bruising and ......voila - it works! Still get some bruising but it's much less than before, everyone notices. At these does mmy doctor feels comfortable that I won't have ill effects and so far there have been non. VERY IMPORTANT to ask your own doctors if they feel this approach might make sense for your situtation. > , > > THank you for sharing A lot of us have had similar experiences to > yours while coming off prednisone. Guest guest
For skin tears use the liquid bandage not actual bandages inless it is telfa with no adhesive. The adhesive part can make more tears. I should have thought to mention that earlier, sorry. Pat --------------------------------- Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min.
