Steve,

Does this mean even though I am taking Xolair (since it acts only on 1

cell) and the prednisone is reduced to a minimum or even eliminated

(this is our goal) will the symptoms continue returning in the same

fashion as they did this past week?

Can I expect the Xolair when it reaches its maximum potential benefit

can I expect to be able to quit taking the evil candy all together?

Alas, whether you can get off pred depends on how bad your asthma is and likely

whether or not you are managing the rest of the triggers (eg GERD etc). Studies

have shown ppl get off pred (and ppl here have!!) so there is hope I think! I

think it is a reasonable goal to get off pred altogether (except for maybe the

occasional flare). That is the goal my doc and I are pursuing. I think that if

your are in a bad season (eg tree allergies etc...) you may not be able to get

off pred but AT LEAST you can take a lower dose. The lowest dose of pred

possible is the best dose.

ps do check out that book. It made me feel like a normal person despite all the

abnormalities....

pps for some ppl here, it took 1 year of xolair...

Thanks again, I am planning to go to the library and check out the

book. I called and it is in. I will read it and let you know what I

find out. Your comments have hopeful and helpful.
