Is there any mention of this in the Xolair clinical trials that anyone

had hair loss?

Well, because I am middle aged, mine started turing gray around age

40 but is has never turned loose!

Men, wouldn't it be cool if Xolair not only took care of our asthma

but also took care of our facial hair so we wouldn't have to shave

every morning?

Just thinking out loud.

I am losing my hair but I lost my hair the last time I

managed to get to a low dose of pred in 2003 before

xolair. So I chalk it up to pred withdrawl and not

xolair.

ps Anyone else find dust-bunny hairballs on hardwood

floors gross??

Yes, they are gross. My shower and brush look like a chemo patient's every day.

I'm almost positive it's from the beta blockers and not the xolair though. Even

at work there's hair on everything and I don't comb it or play with it there.

Dear pyfe456:

I complained about hair loss last June, 2005. I went on Xolair in March, 2005

and by June I noticed my hair was thinning a lot, my hairdresser noticed it too.

Now at this date my hair is much thinner. I thought it was aging process but,

this happened immediately after Xolair started and continued. I'm hoping this

is it?????

Dear :

I noticed a lot of hair loss in June of 2005, my hairdresser noticed it too.

I started Xolair in March 205. I posted something at that time but, no one

seemed to be bothered with that problem so, I thought it was age. But, because

it happened right after Xolair and continued, I knew it had to be the Xolair and

my husband and hairdresser agree. I'm having trouble posting this would you post

this for me?

Dear :

I would like to know if anyone out there has had a problem with their

Antibodies?

I keep getting infections and have to be on high doses of prenisone. My doctor

took blood tests and it seems my Antibodies are low. We don't know if it's since

I've been on Xolain or not. My doctor has sent me to an Immunologist, who has

taken blood tests too. If my Antibodies are low this could be the cause of my

infections. The doctor said I may need transfusions of Gammaglobulin, I don't

like the sound of this.

Is anyone else out there having this problem.

I'm the same person who asked last June is anyone losing hair? I have lost

quite a bit since starting Xolair and no one was complaining about that then.

I was on Indural for awhile but my heart rate stayed wayyyy too low so I'm

on Toprol XL at a very low dose now. I was at a higher dose but started

noticing breathing trouble (actually not really trouble, just that " hmmm

that's not what it feels like when I'm on steroids " kind of breath.lol) that

I couldn't really explain other than the meds.

I agree, creeps me out when I wash my hair and it sticks between my fingers.

I end up wiping big clumps on the side of the shower to get it off. (gross,

I know, especially since I have somewhat long hair). I have to warn new

hairdressers when I go in so they don't freak out.

I have experienced frequent infections also. I've been getting pretty regular

upper-respitory infections. I asked my doctor and he seemed to think it was

unrelated to Xolair but if you look up the side effects from the clinical trial

23% reported infections. When I first started the shot I was getting infections

1x/month but they seem to have leveled off now. I've only had 1 this winter.

I was getting 9 or more upper resp infections a year before starting

Xolair. I'm down to 2 per year now. Thank God. Thank Genentech.

My wife has been complaining that we both are loosing our hair and

she's trying to figure out a reason. She is not on Xolair or any

other Medications I am taking. The only thing in common that I can

factor in is we both are 60! Add all the genetically altered foods,

chemical sprays, pollutants, did I mention 60 and genetics, etc, and

these were the common threads we cam up with. (she did mention

something about me causing her to pull her hair out, I discounted

that one?)

My Daughter recommended a book, she was on high doses of Prednisone

for a non Xolair related matter. Like most Xolair users, I have been/

am on high doses of Prednisone. I found the book interesting and

could relate to everything the author went through (hopefully my wife

will read it and realize I am supposed to be crazy on Prednisone

LOL). The co-author, a Dr, stated a side effect of prednisone can be

hair loss on the head, growth everywhere else. If you are interested

That book saved me. Esp the chapter about being crazy.

I sometimes go back and read to see that I am not

indeed alone in the world. The mood swings and the

insomnia got to be the two worst things.

Its really a surprise ppl talk to me I am so awful

sometimes. And while knowing is half the battle (GI

Joe!) it's still really hard. Thanks for the support I

get from ppl here I sometimes see the light at the end

of the tunnel.

things like flovent inhalers, cortisone nasal sprays, advair and the like?

Thank you Addy for such great work. I would add my 2 cents in also. Hair loss

over a one month to two month period is common every 7 years or so due to

chemical changes in the body. We usually don't remember that we have

experienced it. It freaks us out, then it is done for the same unexplained

reason it started. The hair may grow back & thicken again or it stays the same.

Also, after menopause women lose hair due to low estrogen counts. Some hormones

help stem the loss inadvertently but they are not without problems. Men also go

through 'menopause' between 40 and 55, they ave lower concentrations of

testosterone. This is also a time for thinning hair. Most of the time it stops

by itself. Men also have an inherited gene for male pattern baldness. If this

is the case, unfortunately, there is nothing to be done.

SO, what does this mean for all of us? If it continues more than a month or

two see a physician. They can check thyroid, diabetes, hormones, medication

side effects etc. and see what the culprit is.
