Price of Xolair - -> $500 a shot?

As you probably remember, I'm considering Xolair for my apparent throat

allergies. I will probably have to pay for it out-of-pocket since I

don't have asthma.

I have seen several posts referring to the cost of Xolair being about

$500 per shot. My question is a little confusing, but I'll take a stab

at it...is $500 the price the insurance company is charged? Does the

insurance company usually receive a discount off this price? Does the

price seem to differ if you get shots at the doctor's office versus

self-injecting at home? I realize each situation is probably

different, so free to tell me your experiences so far.

This may not help too much but the wholesale price

that the pharmacy pays is 690$ Can. They then add

dispensation fees etc....
