Dave,

I don't think that everyone on the list meant to

bombard you with messages that didn't sound helpful or

supportive. Your initial email sounded very depressed

and sad, I think that they were trying to give you

ways to help, everyone on the list at one time or

another gets depressed and when that happens everyone

jumps in to raise your spirits.

Just a thought, I hope that things start looking up.

Blessings,

NoeLani

Dave, I do hope you won't leave this group. There is soooooo much knowledge and support here. However, I did not write to persuade you of that. I'm posting to tell you of MY experiences with the PROCESS. After getting diagnosed in 1999, I decided that I would treat. I did not have insurance coverage and knew absolutely nothing of the politics involved in working with people who could help me. I'm a very literal, outspoken, honest person, so that's how I approached this problem. I finally stumbled my way into finding out that the drug companies would help those who needed help and called them. We danced around for several months before I learned that I did not have enough need. During all this, I was an emotional mess, with massive depression and a real fear of the disease and little knowledge about it.

ALSO, did not know about support groups and my doc told me to go out and find my own financing, no suggestions at all. I'm shortening this story, but I finally went to the court house and filed my own divorce papers and divorced my husband of then 3 years. Then, I filled out endless papers and tracked down medical records and sent them, proof of my birth, proof of my income, proof of my divorce, etc, etc. I finally completely broke down on the phone to the Scherring agents and simply sobbed. WELLL, they transferred me to another superior agent who saw fit to----after a solid year of this ridiculous dance---- to clear me for treatment. During this time and during the enduing treatment, I had absolutely no support and the nurse who handled Hep cases for the doc I chose was also absolutely no support and poo-pood all my side effects as me being a baby. Besides that, my husband, a good man, did not know how to handle what was happening to me and we very nearly REALLY separated and divorced. I did not know about the emotional roller coaster and the "riba rage" that I would experience, I did not realize I would be so weak and unable to cope with each day.....and on and on. To say the least, it was the toughest, roughest, scariest time in my life and I was NOT as bad as many with this desease are. For this reason, I believe the support of other heppers is of the highest value during your rough and darkest times. I could also tell you of the two year battle to get disability, but this is long enough. The point is IGNORE the jerks who respond and listen to all the supportive and caring people found on this site and you WILL feel positive. SharonDave <d_k45050@...>

Hey ,

As I stated in a recent post, I have been given moderator status here, so I plan

on hanging here for a while and working with the other moderator to get this

group back to where it used to be way back when. I hope you'll continue to be an

uplifting part of this group and see us through to a happier and more supportive

place.

Hi ,

I see you have a lot to take care of here so I won't keep you. I'm just lurking

right now due to severe pain in my back as well as pain from other

problems. Keep up the good work and I will be here as I can.

Hey ,

As I stated in a recent post, I have been given moderator status here, so I plan

on hanging here for a while and working with the other moderator to get this

group back to where it used to be way back when. I hope you'll continue to be an

uplifting part of this group and see us through to a happier and more supportive

place.

I am going to be leaving and starting my own group so that it can actually be

moderated... but before I go I want to address something

I have had strong feelings of protection of this group. Like I have said before,

I have been here a long time(more than 3 yrs) and have seen many folks come

though almost none had a personal agenda and caused any disruption.. .a very

rare few have commandeered the group with some silly power trip...but lately

there have been more in the last few months than combined the last three years.

I wanted to not run away from a group that is being threatened but since I am

not a moderator..I have no way to defend the group and save it from its current

course.

So with that I will say to Dave that some of the things you've said to people,

advice you have given...is not only wrong...it borders on damaging. You must

think carefully before you advise somoeone especially when it comes to medical

advice. You need to listen more and talk less. Your advice is way off base...and

your criticizing, belittling and ostracizing of people on here is what is

endangering the group. YOU are keeping a thread of discord running through the

group. And WHy you seem to have gotten a little power trip here is beyond my

understanding. ..it's a SUPPORT GROUP. Please...get off your high horse and do

the group a favor...LEAVE.

And for " Dr Bob " ...you know, I am a Christian too and even in your speech about

not bringing that agenda here...you sure managed to plant a few seeds didn't

you?

And I am sure you have nothing but the best intentions, and I'm sure you

wholeheartedly care for your patients and want to help....but over the years I

have seen that most ALL chiros are overzealous in thinking they can " cure " just

about every disease or pain out there...and encouage people to run the other way

when surgery is advised...and there is SURELY a lot of times when people need to

avoid surgery...but just to let you know...HERE the people are well beyond the

help of a chiropractor. Just keep that in mind...the majority of the folks here

are like yourself and not just moaning about a herniated disk.

And as far as giving out advice...have fun. I have been involved here and came

not only for my own pain and needing to talk with others who knew the problems I

had dealt with...but also because my own personal/medical experience.. .coupled

with my professional experience of being a surgical nurse with a specialty in

spine surgery...I wanted to be able to share with others what I felt priveledged

to have learned...because precious few know the things the docs never tell you.

There are SOOOO many IMPORTANT things that people need to know...and I was just

like them, going with the flow and following along like cattle in the medical

system that I was helpless to navigate. And I did help...many people. And it

Will dulcolax pills work just as well? That's what they had me start with, then

2 hrs. later, drink the Miralax mixture. Together it did what they wanted it to

do, plus more. I just want to have a life where I'm attached to the bathroom! I

weigh 110 and am hoping I can just take a pill every day. What are your

thoughts?

Hi, sorry to hear of your troubles. Don't fear Miralax. I buy the

Generic equivalent at Sams or Walmart because between my wife and I

we use it every-day because of pain medicine. It doesn't tie you to

the bathroom. Without it, pardon me I'd be impacted. I almost had to

go to the ER for that and that was enough to scare me to use the

Miralax daily. It's very gentle, when mixed with your favorite drink

it's tasteless. I use Grape or Orange juice mixed with diet Sierra

Mist. If I take it at supper time I usually go by bedtime. Narcotics

will definitely mess up our digestion. Dave

I can't say. My experience with Ducolax was cramping and then I had

to go NOW! Since I am on 24x7 narcotics I use the Miralax and also

Senecot w/ a stool softener. I use Walmart generic version. Just one

or the other doesn't work for me. But I'm not tied to the bathroom. I

take the Senecot in the AM and the Miralax say at 7-8pm. Then I

generally have a bm BY 10PM. Dave

HI DAVE--and Group,

I have not posted much lately as I am dealing with a chronic autoimmune

diagnosis calledPMR-- which has complicated my already moderate issues with C

Spine for which I get 6 month intervals of epidurals--and they do help

I  have been taking a mild narcotic for  my PMR-- a chronic muscle inflammation(

ployneuralgia  rheumatica),  FIBROMYLAGIA,inflammation of the nerves,

joints, and C Spine issues now for nearly 3 years and do not have any

constipation at all- in fact the " other " effect seems to occur-- which I realize

is not the common reaction.

Anyone else have the same reaction as I do?

I have also been taking oral steroids too for the PMR, a low dose sebecau I am

very sensitive to higher more therapeutic doses of Predisione-- in combination

with the hydrocodone, it helps.

Ann,

I have fibromyalgia which has always been accompanied by IBS.  I have chronic

bouts of diarrhea with periodic constipation.  Since being on narcotics the

diarrhea should have been lessened.  Not for me it hasn't.  I do think

fibromyalgia is the culprit and wins over with the IBS.
