Guest guest
It took me a year before I started seeing an improvement. I actually did stop taking it and it wasn't until then that I noticed there was some improvement. I was laying in bed one night, two weeks after stopping the shot, and it felt as though 1 million ants were crawling up and down my entire body because the itching was so bad. The muscles in my lungs began clamping down and the mucus production factories were running on overtime. Fortunately, I decided to stop the shot with one remaining in the fridge at my docs office (i.e. - " what if? " ). I called the next day, got the shot, and the rest is history. Later that year I told my doctor the shot was only lasting 2 weeks. He had another patient with the same results so he called Genentech and the suggested a 75 mg booster mid-month. This has made all the difference in the world. During the last two months I've used my rescue inhaler once. I'm considering tapering off Advair to see how things go. I'm kind of up in the air with the 75 mg dose because my insurance company is beginning to challenge it. My IgE count is only 44 so the std. dose is 150. Fortunately, they approved the 150 so I'm considering paying for the additional 75 myself. Xolair has truely changed my life. If you're new to the shot and you aren't seeing results give it time. pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: Xolair has gotten me from 5 meds a day on a good day (7-10 on bad days) to NO MEDS AT ALL most days and up to 5 if I have a really bad flare. I rarely have the allergic migraines that used to plague me 2-3 times per week. I LOVE XOLAIR. I took less time than Doug to see improvement, but it is also true for me that the improvement continued over time. Addy Group Co-Owner > > I have been on Xolair for 3 years now. It's not radically different. Just radically better.
Guest guest
, Just curious...it's my understanding that Xolair comes in 150 mg vials. If you're getting a 75 mg booster, does that mean you have to " waste " the rest of the vial? If this is the case, it sure seems like Genentech should be coming up with a cheaper 75 mg vial for the patients who get 225 mg or 375 mg or those who need boosters. Who wants to pour " liquid gold " down the sink? Thanks, , 32, Louisville > Later that year I told my doctor the shot was only lasting 2 weeks.
