I have some great news, and I just have to share it with all of you!

I went to see my allergist today, and he actually AGREED to let me

try Xolair to see if it helps with my throat problems!!! I am still

in complete shock!

He didn't even think twice when I brought it up! I didn't have to

twist his arm or pull his teeth! He just started nodding his head

when I told him I wanted to try it and said that there was definitely

a medical indication for it. He said if I could afford to pay for it,

he was more than willing to try it! Yippee!

Apparently he has been researching it for 10 years, long before it

was approved and when it was still in the development phase. He said

he has seen great results with it, and even knows several doctors who

take Xolair for latex allergy, and it works like a charm! How

exciting is that?

He's going to check to see if there are any studies he thinks I might

qualify for and he said he would check with the Xolair rep about

discounts since I'll be using it off-label. I'm not going to get my

hopes up too much about that, but it would be an added bonus!

After my appointment, I headed straight over to the lab to get my IgE

level done. He's going to call me when it comes back in to discuss

how to proceed. I'm so excited...I sure hope it helps! I'm on top

of the world right now!

I knew you all would understand more than anyone, so I had to share

my excitement with you! Thank you so much to everyone here for all

the moral support and advice!

Thanks again,

P.S. Now I need to get my hubby to clean up my car so we can sell

it...gotta pay for the Xolair somehow! :)

Angelina,

I am new here and have a severe latex allergy as well . I also have asthma. I

have been on xolair for 7 months. It has helped some. My asthma is better but, I

want to warn you I still have had episodes of anaphylactic shock when exposed to

latex. My quality of life I must admit has improved 50% and I use much less

predisone. Hopefully I can go back to work or school and be part of the real

world again
