Guest guest
I have been on Xolair for a year and a half. I noticed a big difference in my asthma after 3 months and was able to get off daily doses of prednisone. For the first year, I was feeling great, never felt like I had ashtma. My quality of life was great! I had a few flare-ups but I was not a sick as I use to get and the prednisone took care of it. The past six months have been awful. I've had trouble since December.I've been on/off, mostly on, prednisone and had a 5 day hospital stay early April for IV steriods. I was good for about 2 weeks after that before the inflammation came back. I am looking at another hospital unless, by some miracle, the imflammation in my lungs goes away. Prednisone no longer works, so my doctor took me off of it. My doctor thinks the culprit is the pollen. It has been terrible in the Boston area this spring. And once the imflammation starts in my lungs, it is difficult to stop. I'm still getting my Xolair shots but they don't seem to be doing anything. Doe Xolair stop working or being effective? Has anyone else experienced this? I follow this group and all of you are so supportive. Thanks, Cathie
Guest guest
Cathie, I have been told by my pulmo that this is one of the worst allergen years ever. At least where I live, we had no real winter, spring started early, and the pollen has been VERY heavy. When I started having trouble, I couldn't get an appt for 10 days because my pulmo's office is overrun with folks having worse than usual allergies and allergic asthma. (my pulmo is actually in a pulmonary-allergy practice.) Take care, Addy --- In , " pastalady99 " <cemaglio@...> wrote: > > I have been on Xolair for a year and a half. Guest guest
Hi Cathie: I've been on Xolair for two years and I'm feeling great. I can't understand why you're getting sick. I know the pollen has been high, now that I wrote that sentence I remember I wasn't feeling that good in May and the beginning of June. I know that was due to the pollen but, for you to get that bad, having to be hospitalized???? Have the doctor check your antibodies mine were low and that's why I kept getting infections which made the asthma whose. They gave me a pneumonia shot, and it brought the antibodies up. Now I have to be checked every year for low antibodies. Good Luck, Kathy pastalady99 <cemaglio@...> wrote: I have been on Xolair for a year and a half.
