vjeemt2--I am sorry about you, maybe, leaving this group. I am not usually on

but I do read the emails (yours included). I know you are having a hard time

adjusting to this pain and you are scared of procedures the doctor tells you.

You are feeling like no one cares about you but we all do. We are all dealing

with the pain and loss of things we use to do. We support each other in things

that are happening in our lives and by telling each other what to expect that

others may not know and that we have been through. If it hadn't been for this

group, I would have gone thinking I was nuts in what I was going through. I,

for one, will miss your comments...Joanne Upton

Dear Ann Bell,

Please don't assume that...please don't assume that because someone

isn't talking to you that they don't care. I'm a newbie as well. I

joined around September 18th and have made a lot of posts...it

wouldn't be fair of me to assume that you don't care about me because

you never once responded to any of my posts, so please don't think

that way.

I think the reason I didn't respond to your last post is because 1)

I'm new to all this as well so I don't have the experience to be able

to tell you what to do 2) I didn't know what to tell you when you

said you were in pain and don't know what to do because I didn't want

to make you repeat your situation and what you have done to help

yourself if you had already done so on the boards and 3) I had never

heard of the treatment that you asked for info on.

I'm sorry you feel neglected. I don't feel there are just close nit

groups that talk here. If that were the case, I wouldn't have gotten

a response being a newbie myself.

Something that confused me was that in your response you in one line,

was saying you felt like no one ever answered your post (although

looking back and can see you did get a response with your posts

except one that asked if anyone knew anything about a specific

treatment), then at the end of your post, you thanked everyone for

their help, which led me to believe that you weren't being ignored

like me to believe in the first part of your post.

Again, I'm sorry you have felt like no one is helping you. I'm

posting on this board to get answers to question and to get any

suggestions on my situation, because it's something I know nothing

about. I know no one on here can physically give me medicines that I

need or give me money to help me go to the doctor or get more tests,

but I can depend on them to give me any suggestions that may help me

get what I need and to hear their own stories that let's me know I am

not alone in dealing with a lot of pain. I am not looking to them to

solve my problems, because I know the only person that can do that is

me. I have to be the one that takes their suggestions and advice and

put them into action.

Since I've been here, I've noticed that this is a board like no

other. It is truly a supportive board that can answer your

questions. It's not like some boards I've visited where everyday you

have to sift through posts about what someone had for breakfast or

what movie they watched the night before...It's simply and

informative and supportive board...and I like that. And everyone

here has been so nice and caring to me since I've joined, and I'm so

happy to be apart of this group...I'm sorry you wish to not be apart

of that.

Thanks,

Robin

V-

I only really lurk now, but I think the problem is that

some people have back problems that others may not

be able to advise you on. I personally would rather just

stay silent that give anyone advice that might hurt them.

Also, there are not as many members as there are on some

other Back/Spinal support groups. Two other groups

you might want to consider looking at are Braintalk

Spinal Disorders support (near the bottom of the page

at www.braintalk.org ) and a place called HealthBoards

at www.healthboards.com has a Back problems group

and a Spinal groups (2 forums).

Just because people can't answer doesn't mean they

don't care, but check out more than one group. I happen

to know that BrainTalk has a back doctor and a chiropractor

who are members as well. If you ask them directly, they

will try to answer your questions.

Good Luck.

You have not been ignored. I remember quite a few posts over the past year or so

in which you posted and received answers back.

As with any group...and more so on pain related groups...there are always the

active posters, the lurkers, and those who are somewhere in-between. People

respond according to their own experiences, but also may not due to a heightened

pain level. Let's also not forget the many medications that make us foggy or

forgetful.

You have not been ignored at all. You also have to do what makes you feel good

about yourself...whether that means you stay or go.

Good luck!

I couldn't help but notice something. No, Ann may not be

ignored BUT there were very few responses to her last post (prior to

this one) which seemed to be an impassioned plea for SUPPORT to which

she received only one reply which in my eyes seemed a little bit less

than sensitive and supportive.

I am sorry Ann for what you're going through. I don't post that

much but I can honestly say I do feel for all of us who are in pain

so often and have to find a way each and every day to deal with it

best we can. My best non-medical advice to you would be to find

something you can do that brings you pleasure or happiness.

Something that brings a smile to your face. I know when I'm going

through my rough spots it always helps me to have something to look

forward to whether it be something small or something big. Try to

spoil yourself even if just for one day if you feel guilty about it.

Please hang in there and please don't leave the group. We need you

too!
