Guest guest
Hi all !.. I have 2 weeks til my surgery and CANT wait !.. With the weather changing so much like it is ( snow,sun,rain,...etc) its killing me...Im eating my pain pills like candy with hardly any effect. Resting as much as I can..still hurting. Lots of hot showers and baths too...any other suggestions ?.. Remember Im having the " anterior cervical discectomy plus fusion C5-C6 " ... Oh and get this...the people that handle the disablity claims for SBC called today. The lady said she was a RN. She said that I should be able to go back to work after 1 week and work half a day. I told her what my doc said that I couldnt drive for 2 weeks.. She said ' you dont have a driving position and you can sit at the computer for half a day and dont need to be laying around at home on narcotics all day. You can go to work because its not going to affect your neck for half a day. And the sooner you get up the better. " Now ...I agree with not laying around..but is 1 week a little early if I cant drive for 2 weeks ?...She said shed confer with my doc after ther surgery and suggest what she told me. Any input or comments on this ?? deana Chekichi ****CHATA SIA HOKE *****

Guest guest
Deana - I suggest that you have your doctor's office get in touch with this bunch of SBC goofballs. I had a double ACDF, actually called a 2-tier on C567. I really think that I could have returned to work in 5 weeks but I took 7 due to dealing with my father's funeral, etc. Laying around? Bullsh!t. I was in in-patient rehab for 3 days after getting out of the hospital, but I did have complications. When I got home, it was difficult to pick up a 12 oz. soda. Forget trying to pour myself a glass of juice. Instead of laying around, I went into rehab (outpaitent) and spent time in the pool at first, doing exercises against the pressure of the water. Laying around wasn't in the picture unless I was sleeping. (the pain meds will make you sleep) I did a lot of walking. Make sure you take a dose of your pain meds about an hour before you go to a physical therapy session. They will kick in during your workout and make life a lot easier. Best of luck on the surgery. joe From: " choctaw74 " <choctaw74@...> > Hi all !.. > > I have 2 weeks til my surgery and CANT wait !.. Guest guest
What approach did you have? I just kind of assumed that everyone was doing the anterior approaches these days but was told that in many areas, that is not the case. Glad you're home though, it has to feel better just being there. judith In a message dated 6/23/2011 11:14:41 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, grace@... writes: I got a new hip last Friday.
