Guest guest
, I started treatment on one of those machines. It was okay at first, then I got horrific spasms from one end of my spine to the other. Little did I know that my thoracic spine was damaged beyond repair and the decompression on the L5 woke it up! Before you start this (you know it is very expensive and not covered by insurance, right?), be sure the rest of your spine is up to it. It's causing severe right groin pain. I've been to an orthopedist, neurosurgeon and pain doctor. I don't want to take narcotics or have a risky fusion surgery that probably won't work. Has anyone here had success using chiropractic spinal decompression machines? I have an appt. with a chiropractor with one of these machines on Thursday and wondering if I'm wasting my time and money. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Candace, I'm sorry to hear about the car accident. I don't have any experience to share with you on this, but I am very curious about this and would be interested to hear how it goes for you. I hope it brings you some relief. Take care, nwohiopma <nwohiopma@...> wrote: Hi, I suffer from severe degenerative disk disease. I was in a car accident a year ago, which caused L4 to collapse on L5 on the right side. Guest guest
Hi , I have a consultation with the chiropractor on Thursday, so I'll post my experience with the decompression machine. I'm desperate for relief. Candace > > Hi Candace, > I'm sorry to hear about the car accident. Guest guest
Hi Annie, Thanks for the information about your experience, I'm sorry it made you worse. I'm going to try the decompression machine for a few visits and see how it goes. Our insurance covers it as long as it's medically necessary, and I have the blessing of my other doctors to try it. What a tragedy that some people don't have the coverage to at least try it. Most people probably can't afford it if they have to pay for it themselves. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your reply. Candace > > , > > I started treatment on one of those machines. It was okay at first, then I got horrific spasms from one end of my spine to the other. Guest guest
Hi Candace, Good luck with it. I was recently asking about it. There was a woman on this board who said her husband did it and felt great. Her post is still here if you go to the search bar of the group and type in decompression therapy. She was also going to try it. I wrote her but didn't get a reply. You are fortunate that you are covered for it. I'd try it in an instant myself. There's one in walking distance to my house. Let us know how it goes and the best of luck to you! Barbara nwohiopma <nwohiopma@...> wrote: Hi Annie, Thanks for the information about your experience, I'm sorry it made you worse. Guest guest
Candace, I truly pray that the decompression works for you. I just wasn't the proper candidate for the procedure. Yes, please let us all know how it goes for you. God bless, Annie nwohiopma <nwohiopma@...> wrote: Hi Annie, Thanks for the information about your experience, I'm sorry it made you worse. Guest guest
Hi Barbara, I found the post, and it seems encouraging. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Annie, I do hope I'm a good candidate - I don't want to trade groin pain for back pain. I'm going to give it two weeks and see if I have improvement or worsening. But I don't know how my pain could get any worse, at this point. I'll let the list know if it helped. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Dianne, Does this Spinal Decompression with DRX equipment has any side effects like does it increase the pain? ________________________________ From: Dianne <dianne12315@...> spinal problems Sent: Monday, May 25, 2009 8:31:13 AM Subject: Re: Spinal Decompression Yes...I tried it on my cervical spine with no relief. Guest guest
I did 34 treatments without any relief. I paid over $5000.00 in a loan to get this as my insurance does not cover it. I would not recommend it at all. I did it for L5 and L4.. Dawn E. Guest guest
Hey Dawn, Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. It almost helped me and I did alot better for awhile but then I started downhill again. I believe I waited too long to begin the therapy. My opinion is that you should start it long before you get real bad. I was too far gone but it did help but in the long run it didn't prevent my back surgery. I think it bought me some time tho. My insurance paid for mine, thank God. It was over $6000 and I only had to pay the first $200. I was lucky. Hope you are doing better. The best thing for my pain is electrical stimulation and lots of it. Good luck with whatever helps.

Guest guest
Thanks for the replies with detailed information. ________________________________ From: Dianne <dianne12315@...> spinal problems Sent: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 6:34:40 PM Subject: Re: Spinal Decompression I tried it for my cervical spine and found it to be very uncomfortable because of the positioning. It hurt the back of my neck (nape area) terribly. That pain was worse than the herniated disc. I don't think it has any side effects but then again I didn't stick with it. 8 treatments was enough for me. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. I haven't heard of too many people who actually found relief with it. The Dr's office will give you plenty of testimonials saying how happy other people were with it but other patients I talked to were not happy with it. Guest guest
I have to agree.. I have found no relief at all by this method. As a matter of fact, pain becomes worse after using equipment, and doctor's answer is , take meds before using equipment. DM In a message dated 5/27/2009 11:09:04 P.M.
