facet injections and surgeons

I have had facet injections a few times and for me they didn’t really

work at all. The facets are the “wings” of the vertebrae. They have to

slide ovoer each other when you turn your head.

For the person who thinks their surgeon is dumping them while they are

still in pain – Ask the surgeon to transfer your follow up care to a

physiatrist. A physiatrist is a doctor who specializes in rehabbing

people after surgery and they are certified in orthopedics, neurology,

and internal medicine (I may have this third wrong). They don’t do any

invasive treatments but will refer you out if you need anything more

than trigger point injections. I have a great physiatrist here in the

Seattle area and she has been wonderful at helping me find new

treatments that do help me.
