Hi guys....

Vacation was too short. But it was nice. I get to see my back doc on Thursday

and I've come up with what I want to say to him. As some of you may know, I've

had a laminectomy at L3/4 and an ACDF at C5/6/7, and am now facing a fusion at

L4/5. I'm going to tell my back doc that " I've been in pain for 8 months since

the ACDF, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let more hardware be put in my

back if no one can tell me why my shoulderblades and arms hurt so much after

the surgery where hardware was rammed in my ass. " The first surgery was

without fusion and no hardware and I had no pain and 100% recovery from it. I

would like an MRI or something to tell me why I hurt in my neck before I allow

them to do more work. I'm also going to ask if I can hold out 4 months, will

they do another series of steriod injection shots.

Also, to be clear about my pain, I went off pain meds this morning. I should

have a clear picture of where I'm truly hurting by Thursday. later. :)

Hi Joe,

Welcome back! I would get another MRI of the cervical too if I were

you. Gee when you mention all the back things at once I wonder if

there are less areas untouched then touched with you.

Nick -

Now you know why I wanted all these young honies on the list to be down at my

place when I had the third surgery. I'm going to ask for a cervical MRI with

contrast and once again call the second neuro for a consult. I figure that I

can get all the opinions I want. But just in case, girls, pack your bags.

Lingerie only. :)

I don't know if there's anything we can do for him here, but

let us know. I used Mederma to lessen my scars, it might work

on burns, too. I would suggest that you boost his outlook by

booking him an appointment (or at least checking with) a

plastic surgeon dealing in burns or dermatologist. I hope that

the burns were not severe and he lost no sensation.

Joe,

Sorry your vacation was so short but glad you were able to get away and do some

thinking! I sooooooo wish for when I am able to do that but unless I go back to

work no little trips for us, we barely make the bills each month. Anyhow glad

you were able to make the trip ok, hope you had time to relax and enjoy some

other scenery and family time! I try not to second guess but hope it was ok for

you to go off your pain meds like that, I'd be sicker than a dog if I did that

b/c of how strong my meds are, hopefully you do good in that dept, you dont need

pain and throwing up on top of it! I'm sure you know what you're doing tho. I

tried going off my meds to also know my true pain level but going down one dose

and not being able to take care of my daughter was enough for me. Being a single

parent I couldn't go off my pain meds, she needs a mom that can get her off to

school in the morning and be there to help with homework, and just going down a

dose told us what my level of pain is at... I had hoped to try again but my doc

knows my pain tolerance and how I was when she saw me after that lowered dose,so

for me it's pointless. I hope it goes well for you!!!! You and the others were

missed, when you went on vacation it seemed Nick and followed, not much

talking here, then again I wasn't posting much either... anyhow glad everyone is

back and posting.. but, where is in FL? Hmm Well at least reading posts

she'll know she was missed :)

,

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I pray he heals quickly & well. 2nd

degree burns can take ~3 weeks to heal, so maybe there's time for him to

heal nicely before grad night. Have you tried using Telfa (non-stick)

bandages or 2nd skin? Some people are allergic to Telfa, like when we used

it on my daughter's very large, deep abrasion & then realized her growing

welts & rash were caused by the Telfa. And please tell me that you brought

him to the doctor.

Kathy,

Of course you are tired. You have recently undergone major surgery as well as

having spent quite a bit of time in the hospital very gravely ill. It is going

to take some time for your body to recouperate. You didn't get so sick over

night and you are not going to get better over night.
