I want to know if the content is good enough or if I'm being perhaps too dramatic altho I don't feel I am. As I mentioned once before, here in BC, our medical services will pay for the cost of the explant if there is good reason. I have basically focussed my letter to them to help speed things up. Do you know their position on implants as a cause of disease? Your letter is very detailed about your symptoms. The only other thing you may want to add is some copies of studies (of which I have posted in the Archives) that support your contention that you may be having some of these symptoms because of the implants. Most doctors who believe implants are safe are going to throw (flawed) studies in your face to convince you that the implants are not to blame. You may want to be armed with some in return. You may also want to include the fact that women who have their implants removed do get better. I am one example of that, and then stress that you want that opportunity to regain your health by taking this very critical step. Good luck and let us know how it goes! I want to go in there with a strong positive attitude that will curb his sales pitch immediately. He seems to be a highly respected PS in this area and he was very good with me the first time. Since I know him already I'll at least go and talk to him. Does my letter sound to forceful, too stupid, or? What would you change if it were your letter? I will add some other comments and back up letters from the archives. I already have a copy of the letter from E. Kolb, MD to take with me. I just put my thoughts down as they came out which really felt good for me to express if only just on paper. Do I take such a bold stance with him and run the risk of pissing him off or do I just stick strictly to the verbal and leave the letters out of it? Hmmmm, as I'm typing this I'm thinking that maybe I will just play it by ear and be armed if necessary. Lots of questions eh? Then you can discuss certain points. However, if you want a record of your complaints in your medical file, then perhaps it is better if you give him a copy of the letter, and that way, none of your discussion will be lost if he doesn't see fit to record it. I would be firm and respectful, and ask that he respect your viewpoint, because, after all, it is YOUR body! Let us know how things go!
