Guest guest
hi there, I wanted to let you all know that I finally got my presciption patches yesterday, Fentanyl and Lidocaine (?) from the pharmacy I always trade at. I was counseled by the pharmacist that Fentanyl works with your brain and Lidocaine you put right on your pain site. I put Lidocaine on L4-5 and Fentanyl on my upper right arm where it wouldn't be bothered with my shirt sleeve and I don't have any hair there, plus the skin is smooth and of course no sores or broken. I am still on my regular pain regimen but I do feel a little difference so far, I do feel a *little* better. I am on a low dose of Fentanyl for starting out. That is why I am still taking my regular meds to supplement the patch. I just feel positive about this for some reason, I am not sure if it's all in my mind that I want it to work so badly or if it really is helping. I see my doctor again on the 14th and will go over this with her. I have a feeling that I will need a higher dose of meds in these patches. It is so nice though because they last for hours and after I get used to them and not have to rely on the pills then I will be able to SleeP! YAHoo!! for more that 2 hours. I know I do not want to get my hopes up quite yet but hmmmmmm......... ok, for example, in my last email to you all I complained of my burning, hurting, painful lower legs when I was lying down on my side and I had a pillow between them but would not put my legs on top of each other but offset them as it hurt to touch them. WEll, with these 2 patches I noticed last night after I put one on my lower spine and one on my right upper arm that when I went to take a nap my lower legs weren't bothering me!! I wasn't having to stretch them and deal with the bad pain I had the day before! I got a little excited about that and my guy didn't want me to get my hopes up too high but was very happy too because I would drive him crazy in bed just moving my legs around because they just hurt so much, even my ankles and feet! Wow. He said this time I wasn't moving around like I normally do. I wonder if this is what RLS feels like, is it painful too? It has been 12 hours so I am going to change patches, the lidocaine one. They say they last 12 hours. Well, so far so good, gosh I hope so. I haven't read any of your replyies but wanted to send this out first to everyone so you know how it is going with me so far. I will read everyone's posts as your support means alot to me and I learn so much too. Like I say too, it isn't a big change at all, it is a very small change so far. I imagine that is also because I am on a low dose of the patches. We shall see won't we! Gosh it's Windy and Rainy out there, we aren't going anywhere and that is the way we like it! I am told we get 2 full moons this month? It is an unusual happening. My guy loves astrology and space stuff. Have a safe and Happy New Year! gentle hugs, Coleen ps. Thanks for being there for me and reading this far if you did. I couldn't get my injections yet but so far these patches are helping a little I think. Thank Goodness! Little by little!
