Guest guest
Suzy, I am so sorry you are stuck in the position you are. I was where you were at one point and I finally had to give up. If I could have went back I would have saved up as much money as I possibly could before I had to quit work because when you are waiting on disability and you have -0- coming in and a $425 Cobra payment it is HARD. All my life my parents tried to teach me to save some money for hard times or a rainy day. I wish I had listened. For twelve months I had to depend on my elderly parents to help me survive before I was approved for disability. Now I try to live on $1200 a month compared to about 4 times that much when I was working. I hope you find some exercise or something that will allow you to continue to work, but I tell everyone I know that has back problems to start saving now because you never know when they will become so severe that you will be unable to work. Saying a prayer for you that you will feel better soon. Barb > > Went back to work on Monday. My job wants a 40 hour week or nothing. My 3 level cervical fusion was done on May 10.I also have a herniated extruded disc at t10. I can't and won't do injections.I sit at a computer all day. My pain level has gone through the roof.Hurts in the middle of my shoulder blades around to my rib cage area, also burns about 3 inches below my armpits.Muscle spasms are also worse. They were getting better before I went back to work.My surgeon didn't give me any muscle relaxers. The hydrocodone isn't helping much.I could have stayed on disability but would have lost my health insurance unless I went to Cobra which I can't afford. Are there any other injections (besides steroid) or procedures I should look into for the t10 issue? I feel a great deal of the pain is from that area.Don't know if I can do this desk job,it is so painful.Depressed.I just want to work, but what the heck can a Nurse with a neck and back issues do? My Doc was sure I could do the desk work, but I'm not sure.I don't know how to tell my Director, that it may not work out.I do much better if I'm up and moving, sitting is a killer. One of the PT's at work suggested isometric excercises and going back into the miamai j collar while I'm at the computer.I want to cry.I'm coming to the realization that once the back pain starts,it's there, always,no matter whst we do.Sorry to be so negative.I can't enjoy my weekend for thinking about work on Monday ad the how bad the pain will be.Suzy >
Guest guest
I went through a divorce a month before my first of three surgeries back in 2006 after being married 21 years. Some guys just don't understand that " in sickness or in health " part of those vows that you say!! My disability came quicker than I expected and I did not have any short term or long term disability, however I did have my parents to help me, if not I would have been living in public housing or on the street somewhere. My disability was approved in a year with no denials, which is almost unheard of now. If you go that route expect a couple of years of fighting with the SSA! I think a lot of us with chronic pain know the 'just shoot me' feeling and the 'I can't take another day of this pain " feeling. It comes and goes thankfully and is not a constant in my life anymore. Of course I do much better in the Summer than the Winter. I hope you get some relief soon. If your body is screaming at you it is best to listen to it! Take care, Barb > > > > Went back to work on Monday. My job wants a 40 hour week or nothing. My 3 level cervical fusion was done on May 10.I also have a herniated extruded disc at t10.
