Refresh my memory what surgery did you have again?

I am in alot of pain today also. I have been home all day with a cold but I

washed clothes, cooked dinner and even cleaned my bathroom..Dont ask how..All

I know is that I should have just sat all day and not worried about it. But

no I am a fool and now I pay the price. Oh well..Soon enough and it will be

all over with and hopefully return to normal. I want to steam clean the

carpet in my car next..LOL But I dont see that happening till Aug..LOL

This is all I need to hear with my appointment next week. Anything

positive you can say about it all? Hang in there you'll feel

better. Warm soft hug.

Hi ,

Sorry you're having problems. After both my surgeries (on the same disc) I was

put in physical therapy 6 weeks afterwards. I had very little relief from pain,

but the disc had ruptured again 2 weeks after my first surgery, no idea how/why.

After my second surgery, the " surgery " pain went away but not the rest... I've

gone through 2 surgeries and feel the same today as I did the day I was put off

work which was May 15, 2000...pain started in Feb of 2000. I posted my last MRI

here a couple days ago and no feedback so far, but at the time I had it done the

pain management doctor saw nothing to warrent seeing my neurosurgeon again. I

also had one a few weeks after my 2nd surgery, things there but nothing to

warrent neuro doc to continue seeing me, I was to continue pt.

So, in my case, I've never had relief of the pain. Everyone is different tho. I

was sorta in your situation and I requested, then begged for an MRI.. I got one

done 2 weeks after the first surgery (when they found the disc had re-ruptured)

and after the 2nd surgery I had an MRI 3 months later.. after going thru pt, ESI

again, etc. I apologize, with my memory having gone downhill fast in the last

couple mos. I cant recall what type of surgery you had, but just my opinion, if

you feel there is something wrong, ask for tests, ask for an MRI... if you're

going through physical therapy, finish it out and if the pain gets worse, call

doctor and ask for testing and to stop the PT, you dont want to do any damage if

there is a problem (its what happened in my case, doc thought PT did damage)...

if you're not going through pt, maybe it's something to consider, slowly working

yourself back up. I'm not a doctor, nurse, just a pain sufferer.. I'm just going

by my experiences and what I might do... but I do think contacting your doctor

again asking for an appointment is a good start, just staying on the meds didnt

give you an answer, I'm not sure where you're at either with your doc but mine

like I said set me up with pt and told me what meds to taper off of, what to

stick with for the time being till we saw how I was in 2 weeks, 4 weeks, during

pt, after pt, etc. I hope I've helped a little and hope more that you're feeling

better sooner rather than later :)

  • 3 years later...

I was in the same situation. Lots of fluid, popping, crackling, etc. I also have chronic e-tube disfunction. I'm not sure where the fluid goes, but for me it went somewhere. Perhaps there wasn't any fluid but the swelling gives you the sensation of fluid. What you are describing sounds familiar and I now have full hearing in both ears with a Prosthetic in one ear and am c-toma free (knock on wood).

Some of you may have noticed my prior posts about my surgery lastweek, Now I have a question that the Dr. has not explained to mysatisfaction. The surgery was the removal of a large choleseatoma, alot of the mastoid, two middle ear bones and reconstruction of the eardrum. The surgery was one week ago today. No real pain issues, but over the last 3 days, I feel like I havefluid retention. When I bite my teeth together, I can hear that telltale echo in there and when I press at all on the outside of the ear,it pops. I asked the Dr how the fluid is supposed to continuedraining out of the ear once the ear drum has started to grow backinto place and he never really gave me a good answer. As my eustationtube has never really functioned very well, can someone tell me howthis fluid is supposed to get out? There is some drainage into mycottan ball, but not nearly as much as a few days ago. Thanks!

I can tell you from my experience. I have to get a tube put in and you would

figure that would be inevitable when your eustachian tubes never worked

properly in the first place. I have the same issue.
