Guest guest
After 5-6 surgeries, countless pain injections, and god only knows how much pain medications that I am on; they tell me that they may have a fix. This Friday I am going to have wires inserted into my L1- L2 area. After the wires are all snuggly pt into place, they will hook those wires to some type of electrical device that will continually send my nerves pulses. This is only a trial period of five days. IF it is succssful and eliminate 50% to 100%, they will install one permanently. The success rate is roughly 50% of all people will see pain relief. What my Dr. has told me is that the electrical pulses are supposed to block the signals of pain from getting to my brain. I just don't know what I will do if it doesn't work. How much pain medication can one take? I do not want to become dependant on them; although I am sure that I already hooked. I can't imagine living with this pain for the rest of my life. The fusion at the L4-S1 damaged a lot of the nerves and it is very painful to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time. I find myself laying in bed, watching TV for about 18 hours a day. I will post another message after the 5 day trial period and let everyone know if it worked or didn't work. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
