Hi. I've been on xolair now for 11 months. I've been finding a lot

of things it has helped and a lot of things it hasn't helped and

then a few things that seem very bizarre. My allergist put me on

xolair mainly because of my severe sinusitus. I had my 7th sinus

surgery in March of 2004. We wanted to see if maybe it was possible

it would also help my severe allergic rhinitis and maybe even clear

up my mild asthma. So here's what happened so far...my asthma has

strangely gotten worse. I have more frequent attacks now and I find

myself having to carry my rescue inhaler (abuterol) where ever I

go. Never had to do that before. Some of my allergic symptoms have

dissapeared, but other have either remained the same or have gotten

worse. I sneeze more now than I think most people do in their life

time. Sometimes I have horrible sneezing attacks where I can keep

snezing about 20 times. Feels like my brain is going to explode. I

used to get hives from my allergies, but that seems to have

dissapeared now. My nose is about the same stuffiness and congested

it was before, maybe slightly better, but not much. My eyes used to

be very irritaed and red and watery. That seems to have deminished.

My ears seem to be a problem though. I had tubes put in in 2004.

They are still in there believe it or not, but I seem to get a lot

of problems with fluid build up and hearing loss and when my

allergies are bad, even severe pain in the ears. Here's the weird

thing though. I have only had about 5 sinus infections since I've

been on xolair. I used to get them every 3 weeks! And another

bizarre thing...I haven't gotten sick at all. I work with kids and

I also go to college. I'm around sick people all the time. before I

was on xolair I would be sick whether sinus infection, flu, or cold,

about every 2 weeks. All the doctors tell me this cold season has

been bad, but I haven't been sick at all. I talked to my doctor

about this. One of my doctors thinks its just a coinsidence. The

other one says not enough about xoalir is known to know if it does

anything for that purpose. I honestly don't think its a

coinsidence. Has anyone else found this to be true for themselves?

Does xolair perhaps do something to the body's immunity to fend off

colds, viruses, and flus?
