That's correct. PLUS, they do charge your state's sales tax. I know it's pricey, but well worth it. They do have a payment plan that's reasonable. I just happened to have the cash due to VA paying me retro payments. FIRST IN SUPPORT! Guest guest
Hi Group(I haven't posted in awhile...I like to stop by every six months or so) Is there any new developments for the spine or herniated disks? I have had one surgery on my neck (which was unsuccessful and a botched job on the Nueros part which I was strung along for awhile post surgery till I found this out...unfortunately until a doctor showed me my xray and told me this. So, I now am awaiting my second surgery " anterior cervical fusion " I thought I would wait to see if clinical trials for artificial discs but now I am thinking i will just accept having fusion and deal with it. I have talked to a couple people who are happy they had it, but because I am petite the bone graft concerns me more than the fusion. Does anyone have any positive results to share about Anterior Cervical Fusion? I think it is the best route for me to go so I can get on with my life in less pain..not saying I will be 100 percent better...but at least I am doing something about it now. I am tired of the neck pain..and want to do more normal things like everyone else. Sorry this is longer than I wanted it to be..guess I need to get it out and write about it...thats if anyone is interested inreading my writings. I would like to think I can help others by sharing my story or vice versa???? I was told to have this surgery before I had the microdisectomy...but felt it was better to try non-invasive first. But the doctor was not supposed to butcher my neck in the process. I have bone resting on bone now and some spinal fluid leaking. I recently got a mattress approved by the insurance company buts its nothing expensive or a craftmatic or temperpedic. They only required it be an orthopedic mattress. I already bought a bed though got tired of waiting for one. I bought a soft pillow top which felt wonderful in the store after laying on four to five different beds, but now after sleeping on it a month or so I don't like it anymore. So, I may push for a craftmatic..I too have saw that commercial which both people can adjust but can't recall the name of it..sorry. If I see it again I will post with the info. If you got this far thank you for reading my long post.
Guest guest
It’s unfortunate that good mattresses are so expensive. When I initially saw the price for a Tempur-pedic, it boggled my mind, as the Tempur-pedic is a viscoelastic foam that was invented over 30 years ago. Hadn’t the patents run out yet? How can the manufacturing process be more difficult than pouring the foam & covering it with cloth? I decided to research mattresses before I could justify this outlay that is not as expensive as a sofa, but nearly as much as one of my kids’ braces. I discovered that an excellent alternative is the latex mattress (Talalay process, which creates uniform air-holes throughout the latex), & costs 1/3 of the Tempur-pedic. Here’s a good web site: http://www.mattresses.net/premium-mattresses/ . Why did I decide on the costly Tempur-pedic? I could be buying a new plasma TV, said a friend. But I don’t watch TV. My lumbar region particularly needs support. Tempur-pedic was the only one that could conform & support this area without mis-shaping my back. It helped that it has a 20-year warranty & is self-ventilating, as I signed the near hand-numbing price on the contract. But hey, it’s not as expensive as sending twins away to college!!! sonia

Guest guest
Hi , I made it through your post. Just hope I don't miss anything. Who was your neurosurgeon? What insurance do you have? I noticed the Army part in your handle. Is it Tricare? I am glad you posted cause I was wanting something less invasive too but was told because it will be two level no way would it work. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same thing. Plasma TV or new bed? LOL! Once you get the bed the tv is next cause your never leaving it, hehe. As far as latex alternative I know people can be alergic to it so I think I'll pass. Next one thing my Uncle taught me was to spend a little more and get quality especially if you are going to make payments this way at least you are happy and comfortable with what you have as you write those checks. -Nick

While other companies now manufacture memory foam pillows & beds, none have the quality of the Tempur-pedic. Their try out period beats any other company. Even my daughter-in-law (who's tight enough to make a buffalo on a nickel hollar) realized that the Tempur-pedic was worth the extra money. LOL...and that's difficult for her to admit. They do say that some people have to go through an adjustment period when they first get their pillows or beds. I did not. I can't wait to hear your reports once your new bed arrives. :-) FIRST IN SUPPORT! Guest guest
Nick, Yah, my brother (BTW, Army, same as my dad) still says I should have gotten the plasma TV! Another alternative for Tempur-pedic mattress is their 3” overlay. It costs ~$200 & simply goes over your old (but good) mattress. Check out this web site: http://www.relaxtheback.com <http://www.relaxtheback.com/> & click on mattresses & then click on mattress overlays. At 17 years, I needed a new mattress & couldn’t use the overlay. I lucked out & found a nearby store that actually had several viscoelastic mattresses by 3 different manufacturers for me to try. My Tempur-pedic mattress is $1.5K & included 2 free pillows, along with a 90-day return guarantee. I agree with your uncle. I don’t get the thing with the most bells & whistles, but I’m willing to spend a little more to buy something that I’m going to like for a long time. My only exception is make-up, cause back in college I got hooked on Lancome. Very expensive. But then because I wear so little, it lasts me a long time. Of course, being a guy, you probably couldn’t care less, unless you’re paying for it. LOL. sonia
Guest guest
Hi , Thank you very much for the link. The tempur-pedic beds are much cheaper and come with two pillows! I may have to jump on that deal. You got the adjustable bed correct? As far as Lancome hey you have to spoil yourself. Guest guest
Nick, No, I’m keeping my platform bed & getting the Tempur-pedic mattress + foundation. The 20-yr warranty is void without the foundation, & the foundation costs less than $200. I think Rita bought an adjustable. I daren’t get a bed that depends on electricity because the power fails several times every winter out here, and we don’t even get any snow. Just mud slides, earthquakes, & fires. How long does it take most of us to understand your words? Remember we're all going to be dead for a long time so you might as well start living! I agree 120%!!! The Tempur-pedic adjustable bed has a battery back-up for power outages. HTH FIRST IN SUPPORT! Guest guest
Rita, I wanted to avoid possible problems, because I couldn't help but wonder how much maintenance does the adjustable require? What kind of battery? How expensive is the battery, & is it easily replaceable? (Everything is far away from where I live, but would you believe there's a Starbuck's at the bottom of my canyon?) How noisy does the adjustable get over time? Unless I'm mis-remembering, the warranty terms on the adjustable aren't as favorable as I'd like. Rather than creating more work for myself, I decided to keep my platform bed. It's beautiful & it cost a pretty penny, so I want to keep using it for quite some time. Plus I just couldn't bring myself to take that kind of leap. It'd be like consigning myself to a wheelchair. Silly of me, I suppose, but I'll take that step when & if I can no longer use a regular bed. Albeit, I hope you're enjoying your's. sonia
