Guest guest
Char You can have a leg that is not useful…that you drag…nerve death is when the nerve fibers no longer function properly…therefore, after beinf compressed for a period of time they have problems…carpal tunnel does this as well. I had ulnar nerve damage and when open on the OR table they tested the nerve, no response to electrical stim….thank goodness the feeling came back but it took forever… Deb rN From: spinal problems [mailto:spinal problems ] On Behalf Of Charlene Willoughby Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2010 4:11 PM spinal problems Subject: Re: Re: Does anyone have a pinched nerve in the neck? Guest guest
Sometimes the feeling doesn't come back and it might be a blessing. With damage to the nerve it can feel numb or on fire. Dragging one leg isn't good, I have that in my left leg. It makes it harder to walk because of having to consentrate on locking my left knee. I am so blessed that I can still walk and keep up. Once fused we are limited in motion, if we keep in mind our limitations. Life is good and most of the time without pain.  Keep in mind the surgent can only do so much for us. The damage is done and they are only putting a bandage on it, so it can heal. Keep the faith and good luck with the treatment.  Ken From: Deb <i_ownaberner@...> Subject: RE: Re: Does anyone have a pinched nerve in the neck? spinal problems Date: Sunday, August 22, 2010, 3:13 PM  Char You can have a leg that is not useful…that you drag…nerve death is when the nerve fibers no longer function properly…therefore, after beinf compressed for a period of time they have problems…carpal tunnel does this as well. Guest guest
I have facet arthropathy and spinal stenosis and neuropathy I have pinched nerves. I can feel my hands go numb with no sensation. My feet go numb on me, I had my right shoulder and arm lose sensation, and function. My hands shake when I get up in the morning, I feel like an alcoholic with the DT's my hands shake so bad where I cannot even use a screwdriver to simply tighten down a screw. Having DDD does not help and when I wanted to file for disability years ago lets just say I was deterred from filing. Â Since I got diagnosed with spinal neuropathy I have noticed Irreversibile nerve damage From: Me <ellijaygal@...> Subject: Re: Does anyone have a pinched nerve in the neck? spinal problems Date: Monday, August 23, 2010, 7:45 AM Â Did you think I would lie to ya? Another thing....if you let a pinched nerve go to long it can cause nerve damage that doesn't repair. I have carpal tunnel and it makes my entire hand go to sleep and I wake up with excruciating pain in my hand(s) for sometimes up to five minutes before they return to normal. I know it is carpal tunnel and not related to my neck. I have had enough surgeries in the last three years that I don't want to do anything about the CT right now. It is a totally different type of numbness than the numbness caused by a pinched nerve. The pinched nerves in my neck cause my fingers to go numb but the pain is in my neck/shoulder area. The CT makes my entire hand go numb and the pain is in my hands and it hurts pretty bad until the feeling comes back. If that was your MRI report that I read earlier where you have lesions, etc. in your spinal cord, you need to see a neurosurgeon. If your primary care physician will not send you to one, find a new primary care doctor if you have to have a referral that will send you to one!!!! Demand that they give you the referral. It is your body, and you have the right to request a specialist when you have a MRI report that comes back abnormal. I went for years letting doctors do whatever they wanted to do, treat me for various things I did not have knowing all along that wasn't my problem. I was a mouse. I regret it to this day because it did irreparable damage to my spinal cord waiting so long to find out what the real problem was and getting it repaired. Do not do like I did and think that doctor's know it all. Nobody knows your body any better than you do!! Guest guest
Me, Your neck sounds a lot like mine. They offered to send me to phys therapy, but I didn't know if it would help. Char ________________________________ From: Me <ellijaygal@...> spinal problems Sent: Sat, August 14, 2010 9:04:21 PM Subject: Re: Does anyone have a pinched nerve in the neck? I have had a cervical fusion and now I have a herniation below where the other was fused and another one bulging, so I do have a " pinched nerve. " It hurts like a SOB at times, but if I am careful and let it heal it will go away and come again later. It causes my neck and shoulder to hurt all the way down to my hand and certain fingers to go numb when I do things. If I am driving it will make the fingers go numb. Various things make it go numb. As far as I know it can't make you have a heart attack or anything like that. Why is your doctor not sending you to at least physical therapy? -
