There are no disks in the jaw. There is a joint and

they may be doing TMJ replacements, though I am

unfamiliar with such.

Thanks. There are two small disks in the jaw. I joined the froup for

support for cervical and spinal herniation problems, but figured i

would just throw that one out there. I guess new procedures are being

done where they can replace the discs that lie inbetween the condyles

in the jaw, need a group for that one alone... hope you are having a

day free of pain and misery....its about to snow here so of course i

can herdly move my head.....

Wow, you're right! There are " disks " in the jaw, but

they are not at all like the disks in the back. I read

a little article online and I think the jaw disk

replacement is currently in development or early

testing phases, and is not approved by the FDA, yet.

The best way to find out where the replacements are

being done experimentally is to locate the companies

who manufacture the implant and ask them.

Dr. Jeffry Shaefer, clinical director of the

Orofacial Pain Clinic at Boston's Massachusetts

General Hospital. I found this in the article, maybe

they could help you.

Wow, I'm amazed at that! I had no idea there were discs in the jaw

and I imagine that is causing a lot of pain... TMJ by itsself sure

causes enough.
