Guest guest
Jackie, I cannot believe that doctor gave you that many epidurals in such a short time period. That is wayyyyyy too much. Sounds like you may have a complaint against him. Any way you can go to another doctor? He really sounds like a needle pusher. Guest guest
Jackie… I am so sorry you are going thru this…I can certainly sympathize…all the appts and the time you put out and not to even mention the pain and then they do the WRONG thing….I know that my dr is VERY good but they still count entirely on me to communicate – the ortho and the pain doc want to know what the other “thinks” about everything but if I was not knowledgeable etc I have no idea how they would figure it out. AND the ortho finally got the nudge I guess to figure it out after I suggested an autoimmune disorder….behcets syndrome. So we HAVE to be patient AND dr….it sucks and sometimes you just don’t have it in you. Can your dr that is telling the pain dr what to do, WRITE IT DOWN like a prescription? That way you show it to him oh and make a copy and take it to every visit and then ask and ask again is he doing the right test….its funny. I USED TO ASSUME….that they would know certain things and now I have come to ASK the questions, NO MATTER WHAT…when I got on the table for my last injection and I had not seen the dr…and he had my SCAN results and Blood tests and they were abnormal….he didn’t even know it…but I was thinking, well it is IN the CHART…he will READ it, right….NO..you have to have to have to ask…it sucks big time…. I would say that you either have your dr refer you to one he KNOWS that he can work with or make them give you a script. And as for the rude comments…..well I have had a few of those-they just don’t think…I have had these some from drs about my kids- two are adopted and one is severely handicapped STUPID comments…but long and short of it, I have LEARNED to state my feelings and NOT hold them inside, I am really nice about it- I practice and practice but I think it is better for my health to say what I think than to bottle it up and let it boil inside. And your dr is just ignorant…but if you actually tell him “that really hurt my feelings” etc…I bet that would shock him…he probably hasn’t ever had anyone tell him that he was offensive cause he is the GREAT reverant DOCTOR…but I would think a nicely directed comment to him might really make a profound effect. Or a letter that states that and don’t send it to his office, hand it to him on your way out the door!! Sorry please don’t take it so personal…and if he says I could open up a clinic then tell him DO IT!!!! Gosh if he really thinks he can then do it , there are a lot of people that would benefit from it (minus the comments!) jp venting AGAIN-DR Bashing! Are all Dr's morons? Guest guest
Oh geez! I totally agree and I'm so sorry you're having to deal with idiots! I have such little faith in doctors now. And of all people, they should now that the incedence of people who are actually in pain becoming addicted to pain pills is low. It is the people who take them for recreational use who typically become " addicted " . Yes we can rely on them for killing pain, but that is not the same as becoming addicted to where your body, with or without pain, relies on them or goes into withdrawals without them. There are plenty of articles about this on the internet. It frustrates me knowing that doctors don't seem to keep up on medical news. They continue to treat patients as they have for years without learning about new research, treatments, diseases, etc. Sorry... I'm ranting with you now. Anyway, I hope your day gets better and your pain is properly dealt with soon. You almost have to find a doctor who has suffered from the very thing you are suffering from to get proper treatment and compassion. And that search alone can take everything out of us. Though it's somewhat comforting knowing we are not alone in this battle, it's absurd that this is so common. Best to you! Jackie Bauknecht <sheldane@...> wrote: Are all Dr's morons? Guest guest
I know how you feel. It took me years to find good doctors. I even moved to another state that was suppose to have been care and I found out they were worse! I went back to Texas where I live now to my doctor that I knew was good and really cared about me. He helped me find all the doctors I have today. I have left two this year that I was not pleased with and changed to others that have worked out. I do not even use the Pt department that my Ortho doc uses but another one that have done me a lot of good. PT should not make you worse or treat you like you are stupid. I do not take treatments when I question and have one doctor throw me out of his office because I questioned his treatments. I also let all know what he did and because of this others have left him too. My feeling is some doctors are only in for the money and do not see you as person. Pain is bad but we do not need the mistakes happen on us. All my doctors work together but it took me over 20 years to find this. They call and send letters to each other so that I do not get over medicated or wrong treatments. My doctor who is going to do the surgery on my back works with my Orthro doctor and will let him know every thing as my Othro doctor does not do back problems like mine. It is so bad I need a special doctor that deals with rare disorders of the spine. Some times I am afraid to go to the doctor as I feel that they will find something else wrong with me. I am tired of spending so much time in doctor s offices but in the back of my mind I know it is for the good. I hate pain too and this is the only way to get it down to a level I can live with. Hang in there girl and know that you are important and you deserve good treatment and care! Barbi -- Re: venting AGAIN-DR Bashing! Oh geez! Guest guest
I agree with every word you wrote - and yes - I also agree that - especially lately - Doctors and their Staff are the biggest Morons in the World. How they always get to work all in one Office puzzles me - but they seem to " hang " together. I go to one Doctor - he prescribes something - I go to the next Doctor - he takes it away and so it goes- they used to listen a little bit to you - now they cut you off before you finished your question or comment. Soon we will have to address them as " your Highness " . - the day will come. Megwin On Apr 13, 2007, at 8:54 AM, Jackie Bauknecht wrote: > Are all Dr's morons? Guest guest
Megwin… How does one dr TAKE away a prescription? Or do you mean they just tell you to take something else? I would either want them to confer and then write ONE script or I would decide myself whether by trying the different ones to see which works better or looking at the medical info….I had finally asked my dr to write a script for just a few with refills cause I try a few and then find it was a horrible waste of my money…I have a shoe box FULL of things that have done nothing for my pain but made me feel high and I would never take anything like this before my pain “spike” with the sacroiliitis….I wish there was a place in africa or some world organization I could give them to. Anyway it is a huge waste of money, yours the insurance, the government for those on Medicaid or medicare… If a dr cut me off before I ask a question…that may be the last time I see him. I brought my husband to see my pain dr and he NEVER made us feel like we were taking up his time even with a full waiting room – but my husband just wasn’t really trusting me to tell him everything – he really wanted to talk to the dr himself…so he did for about 45 minutes! Yeah…I have found some great nurses(my pediatricians office- my son has a multitude of health problems and they are so gracious and treat him very special!) and some bad….my pcp….i had to threaten to leave the office and take my husband and any one else I know because they wouldn’t give me a referral to the place I wanted to get PT….and my INSURANCE COMPANY WAS TELLING THEM TO DO IT!??? Who can figure them out. I think maybe they forget why they are there….not just to earn a paycheck…but to help people! JP Re: venting AGAIN-DR Bashing! Guest guest
Well - they could not take it away in that sense - but after I filled it they told me not to take it away because it was so addictive. Of course that does not stop me - trouble is that they cut it from 3 a day to one at night with the warning that I will have to quit taking it completely. SIGH! Seems like no one cares how you feel - we are still playing around with that problem now - and I am hoping that they will raise it to one in the Morning and one at Night, I can live with that. I think the ethical behaviour of some Doctors is lacking complete knowledge of what that word means. I feel like telling them I am going to Mexico where they will give you anything you want - of course you have to pay for it out of your pocket. I am so tired of this constant battle and frustration and not knowing from one day to the next what's going to happen. It's been a long hard life and I am very, very tired. So much for the " Golden Years " . Maybe I should move to a State that does not have total Idiots for Doctors - wherever that might be. Guest guest
If you find that state, tell me about it and I'll go too. I can't believe these doctors either. So flacky, inconsistent, rude, unintelligent..... I've gotten nowhere these past 2 years but keep praying and that's where my hope is, not in humans, at least I haven't met one yet that has helped.
