Guest guest
My name is Albie and I'm 64 years old and have had disc disease and spinal stenosis for more than 40 years. My first hospitaliation was at age 20 and now I'm scheduled for my fifth fusion-- 3 lumbar, and this will be my second cirvecal. Until 5 years ago I managed to walk, travel and have a pretty normal life handeling problems as they arose. Since then it's been a progressive downturn; three years ago I started needing a motorized scooted since canes and walkers were inadequate and I was in pain with them. I retired from my high power executive job and was relieved to no longer have the scheduled stress. I Now attend school 4 days a week at a university where I've made several new friends. My family, as always, has been great. In addition to my spinal problems I've had several angioplasties but they don't concern me as much-- either you're here or you're not. I understand I'm receiving pallitive care through a team of a neurologist, a pain specialist and a pschopharmacologist(sp). Has anyone out there had the same situation ( or similar) how far has it progressed and how are you dealing with it?
