cervical disc problems

Due to a car accident I have three bulging discs in my neck and my

spine was totally bent out of shape. A chiroprator put the spine back

into line but because I had not had an MRI until a year after the

accident no one could understand while I was still in pain. Plus I

had TMJ (my jaw shifted to the left) and pain radiates uo the back of

my head and on the left side of my neck. In April it will be two

years since the accident. I am considered 3% disabled. What I am

concerned about is future problems related to this injury. I have a

few questions: 1) If nothing further ever happens to my neck, will the

discs get better on their own? 2) Is chiropractic treatment

recommended for this kind of problem? Once I found the results of the

MRI I was extremely hesitant to have anyone touch my neck let alone

jerk it. 3) Why do I also hear creaking in my neck?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Eileen,

Sorry to hear about your problems. Sounds like more then 3%

disability but who am I. In answer to your questions please remember

this is a support group were none of us are Doctors we can only give

our opinions or experiences. I would say if you are feeling better

then yah maybe you are going to get better, however the likelyhood

is that you can hurt the discs in your neck just by the way you

sleep according to my Doctor. If you don't have nerve compression or

stenosis there is a greater possibility that a chiropractor will

help. The creaking in your neck I have no clue about.

Jan maybe able to help you out she had good results the second time

around with her chiropractor if I am not mistaken. Hope this helps

and hope you are feeling better.
