Is there any med are supplement I could take for? I hurt so bad when I walk and this stuff never gives me a break. Yes, i think it's very common. I have lots of pain especially in one leg and I think it's nerve damage. It helps when I work to have a TENS unit on, it sends little electric impulses through electrodes and distracts from the pain. I also take neurontin, vicodin, methadone. Suppliments don't seem to help me, I've tried a lot and I don't notice that they do anything. meg
Guest guest
ann, I have that problem but they say it is muscle related. I am starting acupuncture though on Monday to try and help and will let you know. It is frustrating. One DR told me he thought it was the disc from the neck causing it but who knows anymore. I am desperate so I will try anything. Hugs, Joy

Guest guest
Hi Ann, I think the only silly questions are those that aren't asked! LOL Pain and soreness in the legs can be caused by many kinds of back problems as well as by muscle and connective tissue problems. It's hard to know what to do for that kind of pain unless you know what is causing it. My daughter has butt and leg pain caused by torn and prolapsed discs at L4-5 and S1. She also has sciatic joint inflammation that contributes to that kind of pain. Right now she is taking glucosamine, quercitin, fish oil and vit. E to help her discs as well as her interstitial cystitis. She takes Baclofen (muscle relaxer), Elavil and Singulair (asthma/antihistimine helps with inflammation)in addition to Norco or Tramadol for pain (these are for both the IC and the disc problems). She is having a noticeable reduction in pain (both bladder, back and legs) and stiffness by doing Frequency Specific Microcurrent treatments at her doc's office. They are loaning her a home unit for a month so she can decide if she wants to purchase one. I have a similar kind of pain in my hips, legs and feet from arthritis and fibromyalgia. I'm also taking antihistimines, vitamins and fish oils, Bextra (anti inflammatory), Zanaflex (muscle relaxer) at bedtime, Ultram for pain and I take warm showers and baths and do stretches/yoga to help with muscle spasms. I will be using the FSM unit that my daughter has this month for my fibro as it is supposed to be really helpful for that. You can learn about FSM at http://pages.prodigy.net/naturedoctor/microcurrent.html and http://www.drcarol.org/page.asp I'm not advocating these sites for treatment, just for informational purposes although Dr. McMakin does most of the practitioner training in the US. My daughter's Urology/pelvic pain clinic is using it for all kinds of pain problems. It's noninvasive and relatively inexpensive. I think it would be good to talk with your medical practitioners to find out what they think is contributing to your pain. I can't say enough for the FSM though. It's healing my daughters disc tears as well as helping with the pain. Good luck in finding some help for your pain... Guest guest
Hi Ann: I have taken a lot of different types of pain pills and nothing touches the pain I get when standing or walking for more then just a few minutes. If anyone knows of any pain relief for that, I too would appreciate it. Suzane Psalm 84:11, " For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. " -- Silly Question I Guess? Guest guest
There is never a silly question asked only a dumb question when you dont ask. I get the pain in my butt and down my right leg more than my left. It seems to be right around my shin (reminds me of shin splints)they just ache like the dickens. The pain in my hips is mainly there when I walk to much (which I dont any more because it is just to painful) or when I am trying to sleep. If I am on my right side and try to roll over to the next then the left side will get this sharp pain right in the hip area and vice versa with the opposite side. I have been in to see the chiropractor this past week to help at least releave some of the tighness and pain, which for the most part is working right now. Alot of my pain though is coming from the fact that my right leg seems to be a bit shorter than the left so as my friends tell my I walk like a duck As I have wrote before I take a combination of Ultracet and Vioxx during the day and Ambien at night, which once again working so far. Ice, hot tubs stretches (which I no hurt like no other, but will help loosen the muscles) heat etc seem to help. As we all know (those of us who do listen to the Dr cant say that I do all the time) lifting, twisting bending are the root of all evil with back problems. Heres to a good weekend all. > Hello, > I would like to know if any of you have pain and soreness in your > lags with your back problems? Is there any med are supplement I could > take for? Guest guest
Ann Leg and buttock pain is extremely common with back problems. When I would complain about my back, it wasn't my back that hurt, it was the sciatic nerve going all the way down my leg, numbness in my foot, etc. I actually rarely had " back " pain, but that is the origin of the problem, compression on the nerve. Standing still (and pretty much still is after surgery) was absolutely the worst thing for the pain for me. But...lots of other things can cause leg pain, including poor circulation. You need to find out for sure what is causing the pain before you can treat it. Kris > Hello, > I would like to know if any of you have pain and soreness in your > lags with your back problems?
