Guest guest
Hello Mandy: You may be able to do your work with low dosages of Narcotics. Low is like 20 mg of Morphine Slow Release, or Kadian, or Oxycodone. There is a big pain relief jump when you go on any type of opiate based pain relief. Also, do you have a TENS unit ? It helps me quite a bit. You may need a script from you MD...the TENS units run under $100 for a decent one. You can even start on 10 mg. on the days you are not working to see the effects or relief you get. May take you a few days to get used to a little dizziness.......some people get reactions...some don't get any. You just have to try and see if they are helping, and how well you can function. Regards....Stan > > Hi all, I went to the pain specialist today and was told there is > nothing else he can do. Guest guest
There are many people who do work and lead a normal life on low-dose narcotics and other meds. I hear that in some cases, this could be the best case of action rather than procedure after procedure. " Stanley M. Guest guest
How about plain old microdiscectomy? It's a very efective surgery in appropriate cases. Guest guest
that is why i asked my doc for a referal to another doc and he told me that i had to see my ortho doc who refuses to do anything because he feels i'm too young. I'm threatening to get a totally different primary care physician if i have to. I'm very sick of everyone telling me you don't want to do anything drastic or else you'll have constant pain. I don't know what they call this but i have not had a pain free day in about 6 months. now my legs are giving out from the compressed nerve. I fell last friday in a friends drive way. luckly i didn't have any pain from it but i was very angery that it's going to take falling in there office i guess to get them to understand that something else is wrong. i have found that if I just fall and don't try to catch myself I don't do as much damage as falling forward. my friends all get a little excited when i fall i have them trained that if were ever in a car accident or i fall and cant get up to call 911. there very caring and feel the same way i do that something needs to be done. > > > > > > > > Hi all, I went to the pain specialist today and was told there is > > > > nothing else he can do. Guest guest
You sure have tried a bunch of stuff! (I've tried most of that, too.) Other things you might consider, that have worked for some people: acupuncture, yoga, chiropractic adjustments, TENS unit. If you're falling, you might see if you can get into an Aikido class for a little while. One of the things that you learn in Aikido is how to fall without damaging yourself. That sounds like it could come in handy right about now! Guest guest
Dear Mandy, I don't know your age but 6 months is way too long to be in this condition. Do ANYTHING necessary to get to another doc--i recommend a neurosurgeon. Even pay for an appointment privately if necessary-- what is $150-$200 compared the pain you are in? I assume you have an MRI since you are describing your herniations-- they won't see you otherwise, usually.
