Guest guest
When I began taking Lyrica, my next door neighbor, who works for the FDA, printed out a bunch of literature about it for me. The statistics on Lyrica say that weight gain is a side effect although not widely experienced by the test groups. If I remember correctly, 10% of the group noticed weight gain. Not a big enough number for me to blame my 20 pounds on. I attribute my weight gain to less movement and steroids. I have been on oral steroids three times since January. In addition to oral steroids I have had steroid injections which I am sure don't help much either. Phyllis
Guest guest
Phyllis, Hi Marl from Boston here and I've been on lyrica for the past 5 months. I have had a 15 pound gain either way for the past 3 months and have noticed swelling in my ankles also and was told by my pain management doctor this was normal and to do some extra walking if possible. I have had 8 surgeries for Spinal Stenosis and am 49 and have the spine of an 80 year old I been told but I keep on plugging away!! The last one was for my skull slipping off my spine and kinking my brain stem here's a pic. The Lyrica works great. Mark from Boston
Guest guest
I am surprised that the studies said that weight gain was only in 10% of people. I definitely found that it increases my appetite, and more so with higher doses, but yet somehow my weight has not really increased - I think because I am careful about eating. I get intense hunger attacks usually right before lunch or dinnertime. I also crave sweets a lot, but that may be me because I always have liked sweets. BUt my weight has not gone up fortunately. Guest guest
As I said, this was an FDA study, I am just passing on what I read.
