Guest guest
-, I had my plif..L5-S1 on May 5th.. The first two weeks were hell, but it was pain from the surgery not the same as I had before.. I took pain pills for about a month after the surgery.. gradually tapering them off.. My advise is walk as much as you can.. I did that and as soon as I could(incision healed) I started some mild exercise in my pool.. water walking.. My doc calls me his poster child..LOL.. But just to give you some insight.. This summer I went jet skiing.. I mow my yard again.. clean my house.. I start back with my bowling league tonight..I have been upsidedown under my sinks replacing faucets.. things that before May, I NO WAY could have even thought about doing.. Be patient.. but do not lay around.. it takes time for all of that to heal back there and for up to a year you will get some weird sensations where they cut through all those muscles etc and nerves sometimes will get knicked during surgery that can cause those pains in your butt area.. Hang in there and I am Praying you will have the marvelous recovery I have had.. My surgery gave me my life back. My surgeon is my HERO.. Guest guest
the healing takes time. just follow the doctors instructions. you will have pain following surgery, everyone does. i know the pain meds don't get rid of the pain completely, but it will slowly subside....have patience, you'll be fine! --- wolfieda1st <no_reply > wrote: --------------------------------- Greetings all, I had ALIF done at the L4/L5 level back on the 22nd of December. Was released on the 24th. I am still having quite a bit of pain at the same spot as before the surgery, right around my tailbone both to the left and the right and am still having to take meds every six hours or so. Is this normal, or should I be concerned and if this is normal when can I hope for the pain to stop and the healing to start? I have been trying to be as good as possible about not bending, turning, twisting or lifting but I am just so afraid the surgery was all for naught. I have my first follow up appt. with my neurologist this wednesday to see what he thinks. Any advice or whatever would be greatly appreciated....
