At least with the roller coaster, the ride will be over soon or we have the

option to not even get on it. This has taken away most of our choices in life

and we are left dealing with getting by...day by day, minute by minute.

It really is depressing isn't it. I feel like I look so lazy to the rest of the

world. I have been advised by my doctor not to lift anything since my injury is

in the neck. If I go to the grocery store with my husband, I can't get anything

out of the cart for the check out if it has any substancial weight to it. I

can't do any bagging and the check out girl looks at me as if I am some kind of

a princess or something because I basically stand there. There are so many

things that I can not do it is really quite sad. I pray all of the time and

sometimes just cry.

hey Vivian

I'm totally with you on that. I used to be a PC helpdesk techie and I always

tried to get out of lifting monitors and stuff but I felt so bad and lazy.

The problem is simply this: Anyone can accept that a person in a wheelchair

can't stand up but since many people use a 'bad back' to get out of

having to do work we, the people that really have a bad back, wind up being

pigeon-holed into that lazy guy corner.

I'm sorry for your pain - I totally understand it since I've struggled with

it for 10 years now. If crying helped I'd cry all day long but it doesn't

really.

Vivian do not feel as if you are lazy I can relate to what you are going

through as I have been advised not to do any heavy lifting or anything

over 10 lbs. It is something when your whole life does a 360 on you it

is a lot to deal with and your functional; capacities change so just do

what your physician instructed you to do and do not be concerned with

what others think because all of us who are disabled or have limitations

on what we can do now know that we were not like this previously. Take

it slow and easy.......

Take care,

Walter
