Guest guest
Hello to everyone, I am a police sergeant in Las Vegas and was hurt on the job about 5 years ago and I reinjured my back in the spring of 2005. I have had two surgeries since then. My first surgery was a new disc, and I believe that it was the charite disc. It was put into my L5/S1. When I went to the Dr. for my post surgical visit he had taken an X- ray. He looked at the X-ray in total disbelief. The rear of my L% had collapsed and the new disc had followed the collapse. So now I had a new bent disc that was now pushing into my spinal cord. Needless to say, I was now in more pain than prior to the surgery. The Dr. had a name for what had happened and I don't remember what it was called. BUT, he said he had never seen anything like it. So, I had a full fusion in that area three weeks after I had the new disc implanted. They went in and took out the new disc and did a fusion. It has now been 8 months since my second surgery. The Dr. released me to go back to work in a full duty capicity. I still have a considerable amount of pain in my back, legs and feet. I still take pain pills, Lyrica, Celebrex, Soma and Lexapro (he said that Lexapro helps the nerves). I have gained 50 pounds since my second surgery. My primary complaint is the pain in my legs and feet. I also suffered some additional side affects such as, Retrograde Ejaculation (when I can get and errect penis)and occasionally, I have problems stopping the flow of urine when I need to go. I have a new girlfriend, that despite those conditions above, likes me. She told me that sje couldn't understand how I ever got a good nights sleep. She said that my legs, feet and stomach twitch and jump for several hours after I fall asleep. She was amused! So here I am, 8 months after my surgeries, and still very much in pain. Does it ever get better?
