Guest guest
I have been tested twice for allergies, once a long time ago and then again about a year ago in preparation for Xolair. I do not remember anybody saying anything about food allergies. Do they routinely test for food allergies, along with everything else, or do they not include food allergies in the routine test? Guest guest
If you describe hives or throat constricture a physician would do food allergy testing. Food allergies are less prevelant than environmental allergies. So, no they don't do food allergy testing all the time. Ask your physician to do some if you have noticed belly ache, loose stools, hives, throat or respiratory problems after eating. Guest guest
Thank you, I've had all of the above. I guess I wasn't as forth coming with the Dr. as I should have been, I would not believe him when he told me I had asthma, therefore my " symptoms " were none of his business (never said I was completely sane!). It wasn't until I had a severe attack in the allergists office and passed out (not due to shots, just couldn't breath) that I started coming " clean " . He stated I was far worse then anybody thought, go figure. Decided then that breathing was not an option and I better do as I was told, of course by then I had gone so far down hill that I pretty much had to say, I give up, I can not tough it through this, I need help! (who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks, thank goodness for this forum) Before you reach through my computer and slap me silly, I've change the error of my ways and am a good patient, I almost tell the Dr everything! Guest guest
Beciki, Xolair can help with all IgE-mediated reactions. My food allergies are a less severe than they used to be; I don't mess around with them, but an accidental exposure doesn't seem to be quite as alarming as it once was. Not to say that it's safe to ingest something you're allergic to, either... Best, meryl Hi I was picking up some Chinese takeout with white rice.(egg allergy) and started wondering: does Xolair reduce allergic reactions to food allergies? Does anyone know? Since it lowers IgE,it seems that it would lower all allergic reactions. My husband thinks I should experiment and find out. Drs have experimented on me enough, NO WAY! I'm just curious (and hopeful) that the next time I have an accidental egg encounter it will be milder. Thanks for any info Becki
