I am doing treatment for the 2nd time. well the 1st i didnt finish.

the side effects were untolerable for me. now since i only have to do

a shot 1 time a week it is livable. my side effects have been

spontanious crying(to were my bfriend was going insane,)but prozac

helped that. now i am off the prozac and no more crying. also the

main one is the muscle aches my legs and lower back get all the pain,

also my weight has increased and my vision is getting worse. but i am

7 shots away from completion and i can live w/ these, oh yeah and the

hair loss. almost time for a hat but thats ok at least i had thick

hair to begin w/ :) good luck. it is scary but i want to be around

for a while. i have had this since 94. did the herbals for many yrs.

finally it wasnt enough. thanks for listening. thought i would share

my experience. kelly

Hi Well since you only have 7 shots to go I am assuming that you have reached undetectible status already? Congrats hon, thats good news!!! Dont worry, your hair will grow back and it will be just as nice as it was before you started tx.. Please have your vision checked,, I ended up with Sarcoidosis in my right eye from treatment... I have had 2 surgeries done already on it but might not have needed that if I hadnt let the blurriness go on so long... Also INF can cause cataracts,, so please have your eye's checked with dilation and a splitlamp eval.. Wow, someone who gained weight on tx... I know only a few who did that,, I lost 70 pounds on tx but I needed to lse it anyway... hang in there,, you ARE doing GREAT!!! jaxkthewitch <kthewitch@...> wrote: I am doing treatment for the 2nd time. well the 1st i didnt finish. the side effects were untolerable for me. now since i only have to do a shot 1 time a week it is livable. my side effects have been spontanious crying(to were my bfriend was going insane,)but prozac helped that. now i am off the prozac and no more crying. also the main one is the muscle aches my legs and lower back get all the pain, also my weight has increased and my vision is getting worse. but i am 7 shots away from completion and i can live w/ these, oh yeah and the hair loss. almost time for a hat but thats ok at least i had thick

thank you jackie for the nice response. yes i reached undetectable

status at 3 mnths of treatment. we agreed to have me keep going for 6

months. my eye dr. is aware of the problems, and is monitoring it as

i finish treatment. Now my dr. is saying that he went to a semenar

and the dr. there said that even though patients reach undetectable

status that it is still benificial to do treatment for a yr. i am

struggling w/ this. 6 months was what i signed up for, i have reached

my goal and had a light at the end of the tunnel. my sister has done

treatment too. she had to go for 9 months and has been undectable for

3 yrs. i dont want to have to go for 6 more months. i am not sure

what i will do yet. he said that this will make chance of reaccorance

less likely. I wish all the best, kelly

what is your genotype??? geri

Hi Well I think it depends on a couple of things if you are considering extending your treatment,, the way it was explained to me is this IF YOU are genotype 1 you must do at least 48 weeks AFTER you become undetectible so thats why my tx was extended to 60 weeks but I had to stop at week 54.. Also if you have a lot of damage, say stage 3-4, then its better to do the full year to help keep you from relapse.. But IF you had little to no damage and are genotype 2, 6 months should be enough UNLESS there is something particularly different about YOUR health, YOUR LIVER etc that would make your doc suggest extending it... I KNOW its hard but its all a matter of perspective,,, would you even bat an eye if you KNEW FOR SURE that it would keep you from relapse? What if it could reduce your chances greatly but there is no guarantee? This virus is very sneaky and can hide in the scar tissues,, NOW,, IF IT

were me,, I would demand that they do the PCR heptimax that would check your viral load all the way down to 2-5 iu/ml... IF you are undetectible with THIS TEST,, then its probably really gone,, or at least thats what I was told,, so I ONLY HAD those tests instead of the PCR's that only go down to 50,, so if it were me, I'd ask them to do this particular test and see,, I mean IF you are undetectible at 2-5 iu.ml,, then you have a much better chance of NOT relapsing.. but there are no guarantee's... you really should talk with your doc about WHY he wants you to do this,, what studies is he using to base his opinion on,, does it apply to YOUR genotype.. etc,, I know I ONLY wanted to have to do this tx ONCE,, so when I read that tx really should go for 48 weeks AFTER becoming undetectible in geno1, I am/was geno 1a with stage 3-4 with early cirrhosis and my grade of inflammation was a 3 of 4 so it was moving along quickly,, so I was really looking forward to

getting off tx but at the same time, I WAS terrified to stop too cuz as long as I was on tx,, it was in remission,, so it was more terrifying to stop,, at least for me it was.. So dont decide yes OR no until you talk with your doc more about what benefits YOUR geno and YOUR liver might gain from extending your treatment,,, then,, come back here and share his words with us! Good luck hon jaxkthewitch <kthewitch@...> wrote: thank you jackie for the nice response. yes i reached

hello again. thank you for all the info.as for what geno type i have

and my health, i am type 2 and my viral load was 41 he said it should

be 40 and my alts were 62 and they should of been 50. this was before

treatment. so i was not elevated that much to begin w/ and have no

other health problems. no damage was evident to my liver when i had

the ultrasound and the biopsy. like i said i have had this for a

while and was doing herbals and diet. my dr. was waiting till a new

method then the 3 times a week shot came out. i am going to ask my

dr. about that test you mentioned. the next time i see him is in oct.

i will find out more then. blessed be, kelly
