Guest guest
Carol, Way on the bottom is your original post and in between my reply is some potentially good news for us all. Of course I have Hep C. I didn't come to this forum because I am a jerk or to cause anyone sleepless nights. I came because I care about people and thought the group was what it was advertised to be. Symptoms? No, I've had none. I actually did not come here to spoil the party. I do not work for a doctor or a drug company. If I stepped on toes that's because I feel strongly about people being cured, or whatever you call it -- SVR, clear, clearing, etc. I don't like frauds -- I am sure you don't either. I want all of us that have this to clear it out of our bodies and then get on with our lives. Every single one of you. PS: Below is a news story, dated Feb. 10th I read on today. Perhaps many of you have seen it but it is heartening nonetheless. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gene-Silencing Strategy Prevents Hepatitis in Mice By Merritt McKinney NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - For the first time, scientists have prevented disease in animals by harnessing an ancient defense mechanism long used by plants and other organisms to fight off viruses. The gene-silencing technique, known as RNA interference, or RNAi, prevented liver injury and death in mice that were prone to developing hepatitis, researchers report. RNAi is "a brand new and exciting new technology," said the study's lead author, Dr. Judy Lieberman. Although RNAi has been used to turn off genes in laboratory-grown cells, it has been uncertain whether the technology is capable of stopping disease in mammals. The current research is the first proof "that the technology can be used to prevent or treat disease in animals," Lieberman, who is at Harvard Medical School (news - web sites) in Boston, Massachusetts, told Reuters Health. "The chances are now improved for developing RNAi as a therapy," Lieberman said. The findings are reported in the advance online edition of the journal Nature Medicine. Do not expect your doctor to be offering RNAi-based treatments anytime soon, though. According to Lieberman, "although the possibilities are enormous, the steps to take before doing clinical trials are also numerous." The Harvard researcher said that scientists need to figure out the best way to deliver RNAi to a variety of types of targets in cells. It will also be important, she said, to see whether the methods that worked in mice will also work in larger animals, such as nonhuman primates. Although the current research focused on preventing hepatitis, Lieberman said that the future of RNAi for preventing and treating diseases is "pretty wide open." Researchers are looking at RNAi as a possible treatment for viral diseases, cancer and degenerative neurological diseases, Lieberman said. RNAi is a strategy that plants, worms and other lower species have used for millions of years to fight off viruses. In RNAi, so-called small interfering RNA, or siRNA, degrades messenger RNA, the genetic material that translates DNA instructions for making proteins. A couple of years ago, researchers discovered that RNAi could work in mammal cells, too. Lieberman's team moved RNAi research another step forward by testing the technology's ability to protect the liver in mice that were prone to developing hepatitis. The researchers used RNAi to turn off the activity of a gene called FAS, which is involved in many types of liver disease. In one experiment, mice that did not receive the treatment died within three days, but 82% of mice that received the RNAi therapy were still alive 10 days later. Because FAS plays a role in several types of liver disease, including viral and immune-related hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease and liver failure, the researchers speculate that silencing the gene could help prevent or treat liver disease. They also point out that preliminary research in mice suggests that RNAi may keep the immune system from rejecting a liver after a transplant. Guest guest
The tx attacks your immune system, which allows for many of the hep c symptoms to surface. I never have symptoms unless I'm under TERRIBLE emotional stress--then my thighs hurt and I get symptoms of lichen planus--these are both auto-immune conditions related to hep c. The auto-immune reaction is due to the immune system going wild trying to fight the virus as well deal with the extreme emotional stress. That's why tx makes you feel worse. It messes up the immune response .....tears the body down instead of building it up..... Guest guest
If you're not eating due to loss of appetite you might consider using MAP. It was created for people with wasting conditions...can't begin to say how important adequate long chain amino acids are...these are predigested, and create virtually no nitrogen waste, and are shown to improve hepatic function in people with liver failure. If you have acites, or a swollen liver and your stomach and colon are crowded, you will not have any appetite. Both of these supplements will help with the acites. Provided the proper nutrients, liver inflamation will subside and the liver will regenerate more quickly. "According to Dr. Luca, MAP has been a huge help for renal failure patients and hepatic failure patients. He has seen renal failure patients on dialysis treatments 3 times a week, and when taking MAP their doctor has been able to lower those to 2 times per week! With hepatic failure you get increased levels of ammonia in the blood because the liver is unable to convert it to urea. Ammonia is very damaging, especially to brain tissue. Substituting MAP for protein that follows the catabolic pathway means less nitrogen catabolites, and lower amounts of ammonia are measured in the blood within 48 hours." Flanagan's Microclusters are a non-caloric source of energy, actually creating ATP. One of the first things people generally notice is a return of appetite. However, when I take MAP I am barely hungry at all, and I must watch it, because the Flanagan Microclusters are providing energy without food, so I must remember to eat sometimes. If your digestive system is functioning properly this should help appetite too. Using stimulants will lessen the natural hunger you feel over time, and failure to eliminate 3-4 times a day will cause the same thing. You might consider a probiotic supplement. I get my enxymes in the Pure Synergy with 50+ other things, but enzymes are as critical to digestion and probiotics, the beneficial bacteria in your digestive system. Diet, disease, drugs, can all deplete these things severely and must be restored for proper detoxification and healing. Peace, Jeanine http://hepchelp.homestead.com First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. Mahatma Ghandi MAP and the Aging Process Many health disorders associated with the aging process have been misunderstood as natural consequences. Malnutrition is perhaps the most severe cause of these disorders. Malnutrition, which is inadequate (in quantity or quality) nutrition, is common in individuals over the age of 50. In the average 70 year-old individual, the lean body mass - the living cell mass that comprises muscles, organs, skeleton, antibodies, enzymes, etc. - usually decreases up to 25%. During the same period, fat body mass usually increases up to 100%. As a result, it is common to see a decrease in lean body tissue associated with an increase in body fat during the aging process. Malnutrition can be induced or aggravated during the aging process, due to : A decreased sense of taste and smell, which can reduce appetite. Dental problems, which can decrease eating capabilities. Infectious diseases, which can increase body protein catabolism (breakdown) causing other metabolic alterations. Chronic degenerative diseases, which can increase body protein catabolism causing other metabolic alterations. Gastrointestinal disorders, which can limit the absorption of nutrients, and cause discomfort during digestion, which may reduce food intake. Neuropsychiatric factors, which can cause anorexia. Social-economic factors, which can cause insufficient food intake. Although the normal aging process cannot be halted or reversed, the use of MAPÔ in conjunction with a well-balanced diet can reverse or minimize the following life threatening effects of malnutrition: Immune impairment, which can increase susceptibility to infectious diseases. These, in turn, can cause or aggravate malnutrition as a result of many metabolic alterations. Anemia due to insufficient erythropoiesis (formation of red blood cells), caused by a deficiency of Iron, Protein, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, or Copper. It is estimated that more than 35% of individuals experience anemia during the aging process. Among the most common symptoms of anemia are shortness of breath and fatigue. Decreased lean body mass, the living cell mass that comprises muscles, organs, skeleton, antibodies, enzymes, etc. When lean body mass decreases, body movements, including breathing, can be seriously limited. Increased fat body mass. Being overweight is the most common form of malnutrition in the USA. As mentioned, fat body mass increases in some individuals up to 100% during the aging process. This increase in fat body mass can cause or aggravate health disorders such as: cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, shortness of breath, fatigue, and orthopedic afflictions. Until now, the achievement of adequate nutrition during the aging process has been a scientific dilemma because kidney function intensely decreases during this period. As a result, an average 70-year-old individual could retain only 30% of his juvenile kidney function. Under these circumstances, even the adequate daily protein intake could be contraindicated because it could provoke a dangerous increase of nitrogen catabolites (metabolic waste), such as ammonia or Blood Urea Nitrogen (B.U.N.). For these reasons, MAPTM is recommended in the dietary management of individuals with inadequate protein intake or absorption due to physiological, psychological, or social-economic causes. MAP’s Unique Characteristics MAP is a patented (U.S. Patent 5,132,113), 100% natural dietary supplement, which provides a unique pattern of essential (indispensable for life) amino acids in a highly purified, free, crystalline form. Ten grams (g) of MAP provides the following essential amino acid profile: L-Isoleucine 1.483 g L-Leucine 1.964 g L-Valine 1.657 g L-Lysine 1.429 g L-Methionine 0.699 g L-Phenylalanine 1.289 g L-Threonine 1.111 g L-Tryptophane 0.368 g MAP’s superiority is based on its amino acid pattern. MAP’s components, proportions, homogeneity, and extremely high purity enable it to provide unprecedented nutritional effectiveness. To better understand why a minimal change in an amino acid pattern can be significant, it should be considered that a bird, snake, tree, elephant, or human being is composed of amino acids. However, each one of them is different in accordance to its own amino acid pattern. MAP provides a 99% Net Nitrogen Utilization (NNU) MAP’s unique amino acid profile provides an unprecedented 99% Net Nitrogen Utilization (NNU). The NNU represents a protein’s nutritional value, which is the percentage of its constituent amino acids that act as precursors, or “building blocks,” of body protein synthesis. To illustrate: when a dietary protein is digested, it releases its constituent amino acids into the small intestine where they are absorbed. Those amino acids can then be used for either the anabolic pathway (build-up) or the catabolic pathway (breakdown) (Fig. I). Figure I. Dietary Protein Metabolism When dietary amino acids follow the anabolic pathway, they act as precursors for the body’s protein synthesis, thus becoming the body's constituent proteins. Throughout the anabolic pathway, amino acids do not release any nitrogen catabolites (metabolic waste) or energy. (Fig. II). Figure II. The Protein Metabolism Anabolic Pathway On the other hand, when dietary amino acids follow the catabolic pathway, they act only as a source of energy and not as building blocks. Amino acids release unwanted nitrogen catabolites when they are used as a source of energy in the catabolic pathway (Fig. III). Figure III. The Protein Metabolism Catabolic Pathway The fact that MAP provides an unprecedented 99% NNU means that 99% of its constituent amino acids act as precursors for the body’s protein synthesis. As a result, it provides the highest NNU among any dietary protein or amino acid formula available. By comparison: Dietary proteins provide an NNU between 16% (casein) and 48% (hen egg), namely between 51% and 83% less than that provided by MAP (Fig. IV). Therefore, 10 tablets (10 grams) of MAPTM can provide a body protein synthesis equivalent to that of approximately 12.5 Oz (350 g) of fish, poultry or meat. Figure IV. MAP’s NNU in comparison to that of hen egg and casein Many protein supplements using casein, whey or soybeanas a protein source provide an average of 17% NNU. This is 82% less than that provided by MAP (Fig.V). Therefore, two tablets of MAP can provide a body protein synthesis equivalent to that provided by 8 liquid ounces of any available dietary supplement. Figure V. MAP’s NNU in comparison to that of casein, whey and soybean Other amino acid formulas can only provide up to 18% NNU without infringing on MAP’s patents. This is at least 81% NNU less than that provided by MAP. Therefore, one tablet (1 g) of MAP can provide a body protein synthesis equivalent to that provided by at least 5 g of any available amino acid formula. As a result, the use of MAPTM, is recommended in the dietary management of individuals with inadequate protein intake or absorption. MAP releases only 1% of nitrogen catabolites Due to its extremely high NNU, MAP releases only 1% of nitrogen catabolites (metabolic waste). This is the lowest amount released by any dietary protein or amino acid formula. By comparison: Dietary proteins release between 52% and 84% of nitrogen catabolites, which is between 51% and 83% more than that released by MAP (Fig. IV) Dietary supplements using casein, whey, or soybean as a protein source release an average of 83% nitrogen catabolites, which is 82% more than that released by MAP (Fig. V) Other amino acid formulas releases at least 82% of nitrogen catabolites, which is 81% more than that released by MAP. As a result, the use of MAPTM is especially recommended in the dietary management of those individuals with renal or hepatic failure who must avoid nitrogen catabolites. MAP releases an insignificant amount of energy Due to its extremely high NNU, 10 tablets (10 g) of MAPTMrelease an insignificant amount of energy (0.4 Kcal). At the same time, 10 tablets provide the body protein synthesis equivalent to that provided by approximately 12.5 Oz. (350 g) of meat, fish or poultry. By using MAP in substitution of dietary proteins, the daily protein requirement can be easily and effectively achieved with essentially no calories. Due to this characteristic, MAPTMis recommended in the dietary management of those individuals who wish to gain, regain, or retain an adequate lean body mass, while minimizing body fat. MAP is predigested Since MAP is already broken down into amino acids, it can be absorbed in the small intestine in about 23 minutes. This is far less time than the three or four hours necessary to digest dietary proteins. MAP induces a minimal stimulation of intestinal secretions, acting as a completely catabolized dietary protein, and it is absorbed without the aid of peptidases (enzymes). For this reason, the use of MAPTM is especially recommended in the dietary management of those individuals who want to achieve faster and more intense body protein synthesis without overloading digestive functions. MAP is 100% sodium free When dietary sodium restriction is required, unwanted sodium can be avoided by using MAP in substitution of dietary proteins. The use of MAPTM is recommended in the dietary management of individuals to whom dietary sodium intake has been restricted. MAP does not produce fecal residue Because of its extremely high NNU, 10 grams of MAP provides the approximated nutritional protein value equivalent to 350 grams of meat, fish or poultry. As a result, MAPTM is recommended in the dietary management of individuals who want to avoid eating or drinking a large amount of food. MAP is 100% fat free When dietary fat restriction is required, unwanted fat can be avoided by using MAP substitution of dietary proteins. The use of MAPTM is recommended in the dietary management of individuals to whom saturated, monounsaturated, or polyunsaturated fatty acids (fat) intake has been restricted. MAP is not a medicine MAP is a dietary supplement and not a medicine. The use of MAP does not have any contraindication, and no side effects have ever been reported. MAPTM can be safely used by anyone unable to reach the daily protein requirement, regardless of age, gender or health status. Suggested use As a dietary supplement, take 5 tablets daily. As an exercise aid, take 5 to 10 tablets 30 minutes prior to exercise or as directed by a healthcare professional. MAPTM contains no yeast, gluten, sugar, soy, corn, wheat, milk products or preservatives. For all these reasons, MAPTM can provide healthier, faster, and more effective nutritional support thanany other protein supplement or amino acid formula. Elderly Many elderly have poor appetites and are unable to digest proteins adequately. You will find they do extremely well on MAP. Because MAP is predigested and has a 99% NNU, it's within the blood within 23 minutes! And for those with impaired hepatic function or impaired kidney function, the lack of nitrogen catabolites or waste products is another huge benefit. Very good clinical study was done in the US with more than 32,000 elderly people in nursing homes. Malnutrition in that particular study reached 62%. And it was not from lack of food volume. From 35 years of age our kidney activity begins to decrease. You do not have to be old. It declines step by step. But it is not because the kidney is not working. The number of cells of the kidney begin to diminish. If you end up with a pump that is one-fourth the size, it will only pump one fourth the fluid. But now, for the first time, we can nourish the elderly without creating additional stress on the kidneys from nitrogen catabolites. They have always gotten huge results with the elderly by supplementing their diet with MAP. But what has improved the speed of their results even more was mild exercise. For those over 80 years of age, they kept it simple to avoid injury. They just had them stand up and sit down 5 times 30-60 minutes after taking MAP. Do that every day for a week, then the second week increase to 10 times in a row every day. The third week stand up and sit down 15 times in a row, the fourth week 20 times in a row, and the fifth week 25 times in a row. Stay at that level. He also has the elderly do an arm and breathing exercise. Sitting in a chair with their hands in their lap, lift the arms straight up in the air over their head while breathing in deeply, then lower the arms straight out to the sides while exhaling, then bring the arms back down with the hands back in the lap. Repeat repetitions and increase using the same numbers as for standing up and sitting down. The results were dramatic. This not only helped increase strength and got more oxygen into the blood, it also helped eliminate constipation in the elderly. According to Dr. Luca, MAP has been a huge help for renal failure patients and hepatic failure patients. He has seen renal failure patients on dialysis treatments 3 times a week, and when taking MAP their doctor has been able to lower those to 2 times per week! Guest guest
Hi all, i think MAP would be great if it didn't cost money. I'm Pagan and we give freely of what we can, never charging for teaching, etc. Not that that matters just some fyi. My point is self sufficiency i can grow this plant easily, and it has more healthy stuff if i could grow enough to eat it. Don't you guys see we are so wrapped up in letting someone else provide for us, we let the gov take care of us for a long time and now. Pharmaceuticals, HMO's, clinical trials, FDA approval needed for just about everything. and the fda will not approve what the pharmacies can't patent. I would try your med's, if i could afford it, but since so many people will not read the positive research on the damn plant and won't vote for people to take care of their own needs. Ask yourself if this if cannabis had no medicinal value why did they come up with " marinol " . So sad so many sick ppl in pain, more here in California because of Prop 215, we actually have " refugee's " from the United States in Canada because this establishment and the people are so rigid. gotta go hands hurt, carol ps pre 1937 Cannabis was the #1 medicine prescribed to human beings as well as veterinary use. With hepatic failure you get increased levels of ammonia in the blood because the liver is unable to convert it to urea. Ammonia is very damaging, especially to brain tissue. Substituting MAP for protein that follows the catabolic pathway means less nitrogen catabolites, and lower amounts of ammonia are measured in the blood within 48 hours! Guest guest
Flanagan also has a telepathic telephone that works wonderfully as well. I talk to people from Atlantis and Mars every single evening. Re: [ ] to carol - cdunew; and some good news and it is NATURAL If you're not eating due to loss of appetite you might consider using MAP. Flanagan's Microclusters are a non-caloric source of energy, actually creating ATP.
