Guest guest
Karolyn: They found the cirrhosis when they did a biopsy. I am relieved to hear that other people have a viral load as high or higher. Not that I want to hear that anyone is ill. I just couldn't believe that it increased so dramatically in ten months. I am mostly just fatigued. I had to reduce my work schedule from over 40 hrs./week to 24. That is hard enough. I have one 16 hour day and I have to sleep most of the next day because I feel so drained. I have improved my nutrition to see if it helps and I am staying away from animal protein. Time will tell. Hopefully my viral load will drop just as quickly after I finally start tx. Guest guest
, I am geno 1a, stage 4 cirrhosis, viral load 7 milllion. I freaked too when I first got the news. But guess what, I'M STILL HERE! I did just what you have done, veggies fruits, half gallon water, glutathione for the immune system, MGN 3, selenium, and schizandra with P'au Darco 7 days on and 7 off. I am like a kid at Christmas 6 days a week now, good energy and positive attitude. I too add garlic (odorless). When my doctor does give the nod....look out virus Have a good one, Gwen

Guest guest
I think I better make it clear that I am not advocating the excessive use of sugar. I know it is not good for me. I haven't started taking vitamin supplements yet. I am making a trip to the health food store today to get milk thistle, vitamins, more " green " food supplements, flax seed and soy protein. I have to admit, my diet was absolutely horrible for a few months. Like I said, I crave sugar and that is the kind of foods I would eat instead of choosing a healthy meal. My appetite is not good at all and when I choose to eat something unhealthy I am unable to eat the healthy foods. That is another problem I am having due to this nasty disease. I keep visualizing my body killing off the virus. Maybe that will help. I am looking for yoga classes that are geared toward people with back injuries. I believe that it would be the perfect combination for me as far as exercising the body and calming the mind. Guest guest
, Soy protein is very harful to your liver and kidneys. Soy protein creates about 87% nitrogen waste which is dumpd on the kidney's and liver. Please do not use soy protein. Guest guest
Hi , I have not posted on this list so we don’t know each other, but please allow me to make a suggestion (or two) about the sugar thing and a transition to a more nutritious diet. My sugar cravings decreased when I added a few servings of fruit to my morning ‘break-fast’. I also eat figs off of my tree or dried figs off season. Figs, for instance have the (or one of, since I haven’t checked this thoroughly) highest alkaline rating. Leaving aside the alkaline/acid balance since I have already heard good things on this list by knowledgeable folk – let me just say that the dried and fresh fruit ‘sugar’ replaces the processed sugar cravings. Plus, you get all those antioxidants to boot. I believe you will also reduce the cravings for sugar (the bodies craving for quick energy) as your body gets more energized by natural and powerful sources of energy. Then, I eat a slow burning grain cereal, usually a rolled oats cereal that I make myself. The combination of the sugar and the slow-burning grain keep me away from the sugar cravings until the evening. If I have eaten regularly throughout the day, my cravings for sugar are less then. Otherwise I try to stock the most nutritious snacks I can. Choosing these snacks will take some experimenting for you depending on whatever turns you on, so to speak. It sounds like you have a very good shopping list for the health food store. Don’t overlook Trader Joes; except my review (I work in the health food industry) of their entry into the herb and vitamin category is just beginning and they have some gaps in their knowledge and comprehension of the subject. They are a very good source for transition snack items like nuts and trail mixes. One thing about the vitamins you get, it is advised to get an iron-free one unless you are anemic. I don’t know the biochemistry about it, but it is believed that the virus feeds of iron in the body. Then, there is the whole subject about iron-chelating foods like green tea, when to take vitamin c (not with high iron containing foods as it increases absorption) and supplementing calcium with iron foods as it competes with iron for absorption and so lowers the amount absorbed. An Ester-C or buffered vitamin C does best on an empty stomach and calcium citrate is the best absorbed form of calcium. Good luck. In Health! Jay Emmons jay@... Guest guest
Thanks Jay. I have also heard that iron is not a good thing to take for folks with this disease. I actually saw a catalog for Trader Joe's at my mother's house. [ ] Re: Another delay....>>
Guest guest
Hey, great! Your sugar craving will be reduced when you get your system more alkaline. Search the web (www.google.com for “alkaline foods”) and you will find many sites that list alkaline (and acid) foods. I like the one below because it assigns a number to each food. I am lucky to have a fig tree but most of the year I buy them to eat first thing in the morning (after my SAMe and systemic enzymes). Not only is an alkaline internal environment good for many reasons, it will reduce the sugar cravings. ALKALI-FORMING FOODS Figs 30.0 Potatoes 2.0 Soybeans 12.0 Pineapple 2.0 Lima beans 12.0 Cabbage 1.8 Apricots 9.5 Grapefruit 1.7 Spinach 8.0 Tomatoes 1.7 Turnip or beettops 8.0 Peaches 1.5 Raisins 7.0 Apples 1.0 Almonds 3.6 Grapes 1.0 Carrots 3.5 Bananas 1.0 Dates 3.0 Watermelon 1.0 Celery 2.5 Millet 0.5 Cucumber 2.5 Brazil Nuts 0.5 Cantaloupe 2.5 Coconuts 0.5 Lettuce 2.2 Buckwheat 0.5 Watercress 2.0 If the chart does not come through, you can get it from: http://www.freesoul.us/acidalk.html You said something very important in your email below “when I choose to eat something unhealthy I am unable to eat the healthy foods.” Please keep in mind the opposite is true. THAT is where the hope is. Once you change, it will not be the struggle you have now. In Health! Jay Emmons Re: [ ] Re: Another delay.... Thanks Jay.
