Guest guest
Hi , Yes, the liver of a person who has a sustained response to treatment will heal itself, and this MAY include those with cirrhosis also, at least for some. In some recent follow-up biopsies of people who have been long-term sustained responders to monotherapy, after 10 years they no longer showed any signs of fibrosis, or that they ever had a liver disease. As far as cirrhosis goes, it used to be thought that cirrhosis was irreversible. (Keep in mind that cirrhosis is just the name of a DISEASE, not a stage of fibrosis.) It was thought that once there was so much fibrosis built up that the liver essentially collapsed on itself (I may not be explaining this exactly, technically right - but you'll get the picture!), blocking the normal blood flow and inhibiting it's normal function. That was what was termed cirrhosis. However, it is now known that what happens is that infected liver cells die, scar tissue (fibrosis) is formed, and the liver regenerates itself, making new liver cells (one specific type). Then, those cells are infected, die, fibrosis forms, cells regenerate, die... it's a cycle, where more and more scar tissue develops and builds up upon itself. Eventually there is so much scar tissue that the blood flow and function are impaired. (Cirrhosis). So if that fibrosis can be broken down, done away with, and replaced with healthy cells, then you can end up with a healthy liver again. There is a long-term (3 year) study going on right now through the NIH on those with either bridging fibrosis or cirrhosis to see what the effect of long-term interferon (Pegasys) has on reversing or improving fibrosis in the liver. This a new area of research, much is theory, so much is still being learned. BUT there has been enough positive evidence that even cirrhosis can be reversed sometimes it warrented that study. I would think that how much a liver that has progressed to cirrhosis could heal would probably depend on how severe the fibrosis was. If caught early it makes sense that there is more of a chance of a better recovery. If caught late, there may not be enough healthy cells left to regenerate. Hopefully, I have explained this and NOT just confused the issue! I do have some article on this topic I can post - if I can find it! Take care, Claudine __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi I personally beleive anythings possible. I feel I brought myself back from the brink by juicing. Its amazing. Three years ago I was to the point I didnt want to leave the house. My eyes were swollen, my skin yellow, I had boils all over me and bad acne, every muscle in my body ached, foul breath, hair that was greasy withen two hours of washing it...and I could never get a good nights sleep because I would wake up at least three times a night having to go to the bathroom and very thirsty. And this went on for months...some weeks better than others. I cut out caffeine, and made myself a juice every morning consisting of carrots, beets, a lemon and apples. Then I started to cut out fats from my diet....I make my own salad dressings using extra virgin olive oil, and I never eat margarine...only butter. Withen six weeks of steady juicing and simply eating less fat I brought myself right around. Ive done alot of research on Traditional Chinese Medicine and beleive in it completely. I eat alot of Sunrider foods too, in particular the Nuplus as juicing every day can become a chore and when I dont have the time or energy to make a juice I can throw a scoop of Nuplus in some regular pasteurized juice and at least get some live enzymes into me.....which is the key ingredient in making your own juices . Store bought juices have been pasteurized and this process essentially kills all the live enzymes in the juice. I saw a program on tv showing how orange juice was made and it was quite disgusting to actually see. They take all these oranges in various states...some fresh some decaying.....throw them into a big vat....add chloriform (did I spell that right?) and mix it up and pasteurize it.....it is now a big vat full of grey sludge....they add synthetic vit c to it as they have killed all the natural vit c.....orange food colour and some water....and voila.......theres your orange juice thats suppossed to be so good for you. It has not one live enzyme in it nor one ioda of natural vit c that your body can actually absorb and use. you wouldnt beleive the difference an month of steady juicing will make. My nails started to grow..my hair.....my acne and boils are gone....I dont wake up feeling like a trucks run over me... I also eat synthetic breast milk.......I know this sounds gross but its not really breast milk it does come from cows milk. The product is called HMS 90 here in Canada and Immunical in the US. In the states it has passed the criteria for coverage under the Pharmacare system. It is the only natural medicine to make it into the Physicans desk top manual....and it has received several patents. Its was developed by a professor out of Mcgill University (who I had the good fortune to meet earlier this year). In a few years to come Glutathione will be as common to people as vitamins. We know glutathione is the best antioxident, and the majority of it is held in the liver, the problem has always been with oral glutathione is that the body cannot absorb it. HMS 90 makes it possible for the body to produce its own....it is the precurser the body needs. And this is the difference that has made it so powerfull. And its only received these patents because it has proven to do what it says it can do. And that is to significantly raise glutathione levels. Anyways Im getting side tracked here and I apologize......they sell good little juicers at Walmart....I have a Juiceman Jr that cost me almost $200....then I was in Walmart and seen the Hamilton Beech juicer for $35 cdn which looks to me to be exactly the same as my Mr Juiceman. If juicing can make my hair and nails grow as strongly and beautifully as they are.....I can only beleive its doing the same for my body on the inside. It just makes sense. And to further I dont beleive for a second that even a scarred liver if fed the right " live " foods and no junk food cannot start to repair and regenerate over time. Good luck to you! a [ ] Does anyone's liver heal after being healed of Hepc?? > Hi Everybody, > Someone emailed me concerned about her husband's liver healing > right...he has cleared the virus and his doctor says he's healed of > Hep c, but they're wondering how his liver will heal?? Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Thanks. I would love to come to one of your support group meetings, if I ever get to Fargo. Right now it doesn't sound too appealling - we're still running around in shorts and T-shirts down here! We finally got a support group going here is San , and I really enjoy it a lot. It's been a great way of finding out more about what is actually happening HERE as far as HCV, and about the different doctors... and it's just fun to get out and be with other people who know what you are going through. Everyone should go to one if possible! Claudine __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Shauna, that's so encouraging! I already own a juicer, I just haven't been using it...it's easier to just peel an apple in the morning and eat it....but " I know " that I really should juice some carrots,,,I haven't thought that a lemon in the juice would do good...what about " taste? " Doesn't plain carrot juice taste much better than adding the other stuff?? I haven't heard about the HMS...where do you get that??? It's great to know how much improvement all that has done for you...I have some of those things you mentioned...some boils and dry hair, wake up with a very dry mouth and eyes. I'm going to go fix me some carrot juice now...I bought some but sometimes have let them go to waste, I'm ashamed to say...thanks again for the encouragement! Guest guest
Just wanted to mention that when you're exhausted already, it's very difficult adding the " making carrot juice " to your regimen...that's why sometimes my carrots have gone to waste. I fix my son eggs in the morning and do that first and then I often grab a rootbeer out of the fridge for myself because I need something to feel a little bit awake. I was drinking diet sodas, have quit them off and on many times throughout the years...I'm really getting serious now about me diet and reading " encouraging " posts about carrot juicing like a's post, helps. Guest guest
Hi ! I know it seems as though all this health food is yucky!!! There are some great snacks I've bought that have helped me before when for 5 years I ate extremely healthy...I'm trying to get back to that little, by little...but I used to make delicious Carob brownies and cakes and cookies with " healthy " ingrediants...I'll look for recipes if anyone is interested in some enjoyable healthy snacks that'll help them get through this healthy stuff!!!!! God bless, > very interesting letter..........a bit depressing, but interesting. I do hope > you are wrong though.... How About a letter with some informationan about some > Good things a hepper can eat or drink? I for one could use some more > encouraging thing. Their is too much negative in the world already. Eat very little meat only chicken.Excersize and juicing have made my life better in a relatively short time. let be as healthy as possible Bob G
