Guest guest
Welcome ! I'm Kim and I'm in about the same boat as you, I was 152 when I started and wanna lose 10 pounds. But after you start, and you start losing inches instead of pounds, you stop looking at the scale. In 4 weeks I've already lost an inch and a half off my waist and an inch & a half off my hips, an inch off my bust and a 1/4 inch off my arms. And according to the scale I've lost about 4pounds. So we don't care about the scale anymore... LOL I haven't lost anything on my thighs, but I haven't been able to do 10's here at home with my wimpy dumbells so I went to the gym yesterday for that and WOOOOO I am feeling it today... gotta do that all the time and I'm sure the thighs will go down. But you know I used to hate cardio too, but I've been doing cardio for like 3 years now everyday and I love it. Once I started BFL and they said you could only do cardio a few days a week, I was disappointed!!! I do " light " cardio on my weight days.... I don't care, I just love working up a sweat and get my heart going. But if you keep doing it and working your way up, you'll find that if you don't do it, you feel " weird " LOL Hell people think I am weird for Loving to do cardio... Oh well.... Good luck to you!!!!!! new intro Just wanted to take a min. and intro myself. I am 29 untill the 18th of next month and I have 4 kids. Two of which are 4 months old and the reason for me not completing the challenge last year. I was to sick and tired from the beginning. When I started that challenge I was at 37% bodyfat and weighted 167lbs. I am 5'8 " . I lost 10 lbs before I got prego. Despite my best efforts I only gained 15lbs while prego and now that the boys are 4months old I weight 145. Starting the challenge when I did really helped me because I contuined to eat well and drink a gallon of water a day. I still would like to lose about 15 lbs. I am not going to be able to take any supplements to help me though because I am still nursing the boys. But that does burn a 1000 calories a day by itself. I hope to do better with my cardio this time. I hate cardio and just don't seem to have the wind to do much. So I am going to start with walking. I know that by this time next year I better be able to run to keep up with my babies! in TN

Welcome, Theresa. > Im restarting my foodmover today Many of us have started and re-started many times. We know how you feel. >Im tired of aching, and hurting, and feeling bad. The " experts " say that even a loss of 10% of your weight will make a big difference, so if you weigh in the neighborhood of 250 pounds, just 25 pounds lost adds years to your life and bounce to your step. It may take a little while to get there, but you'll be glad once the journey gets started in earnest. I look forard to everyone idead, and > sharing their successes and failures as well. Successes? Well, in all the years this list has been around (the original was deleted by accident by the original owner), very few people stuck to their food plans long enough to reach goal weight, but *many* have lost substantial amounts. As far as failures go, well, I think all of us have our own sob stories about those. Guest guest
Hi , my name is and I have only been in this group for a few weeks now I think it is, but I have to say that everyone here is really nice and supportive and I just love this group. I am married to a wonderful man who is very loving and supportive and wants to help me lose weight. He loves me the way I am, but also knows that I will feel better and be healthier if I lose some weight. So he stands by me. I also have a cat named "Gracie". She is my only child right now. I have just found out in Sept. that I have type 2 diabetes. That is what has gotten me off my butt and got me started trying hard to lose the weight. I weighed 340 back in Sept. Today I weigh 305.2. Well, at least I did a couple of days ago. Right now I am feeling pretty heavier then that. I will step on the scales tomorrow and see what I weigh now. I really hope that I haven't gained weight back. I didn't exercise like I did the week before this one as much. I did do something that I haven't done in a long time. Wow, you walked a mile and a half on your first try? That is awesome! I have only been able to get up to a mile so far, and that is really good for me. I am trying to add a little bit more every time I do something, but this week I kind of slacked off a little. I need to pick up speed again. Well, I just wanted to introduce myself to you and welcome you to this very encouraging group. Hope you like it as much as I do.
Guest guest
you're doing great - and beating me by about 10 pounds lol. I started back in Sept at 327 and today I'm 305.8 - I was 300.6 for 3 days at the beginning of the week but before I got of the 300's I hit TOM - pout, pout. Oh well that'll just mean a good loss next week - hopefully and faithfully LOL. It's too soon to slack off , to easy to forget to get serious again, So I have to focus. <memyselves@...> wrote: Hi , my name is and I have only been in this group for a few weeks now I think it is, but I have to say that everyone here is really nice and supportive and I just love this group. Guest guest
I have a 10 year old son and I go through the same situations with him. I try to get him involved in sports activities so he has to interact with other kids his own age. I also have a behavior specialist at the school that works on role playing on how to interact with peers at his school. He has no friends and it doesn't seem to bother him. I think he just enjoys playing alone. I always try to remind him not to say inappropiate things to the kids. He sometimes says odd things and the kids think he is weird when he does. The one positive thing about his AS is that he is very bright and the teacher love to work with him. I live in FLandHeidi Short <christcrew@...> wrote: My name is heidi. After much reading and seeing my sons "personality" and "idiosyncracies" in the description of AS kids, I agree with her. He was late on every physical milestone. He obsesses on airplanes and flight. He is physically akward and has difficulty making peer age friends. Visual communication clues are too subtle for him to notice. He has always struggled caring what other people felt and allowing others into conversation. We homeschool and have worked on these issues long before we knew the "why". So we accidentally have been practicing social situations and role playing to learn how his actions or words can make others feel. I was so excited to see this group and learn ways that I can help him compensate better. Caleb is VERY bright. He tests on a high school level for reading, science, history and grammar. Math and spelling are above age level. He enjoys and prefers books to people. I purposely put him into controlled social situations. Do any of you have preteen boys with AS that could share ways that you keep self esteem high? Caleb cries when his feelings are hurt (fairly often in peer groups... they aren't bullies or mean to him, but his feelings are on his sleeve). He is often lonely and doesn't understand why. How can I help him? Thanks!heidips I also have a 10 yo girl. I figured the social issues were just differences between boys and girls. Guest guest
Maybe it would be important to get yourself healthy before you try getting pregnant. I understand the desire for children but you risk health problems for a child if you are unhealthy. That's not really fair is it? Guest guest
all the hospitals i ever seen sucked-you have to smuggle in lots of fresh fruit and make sure they all wash their hands and use fresh gloves'n'stuff...and if something doesn't taste right-don't eat it! my girlfriend cher made it out of there after her total left hip replacement-what a horrible surgery, but she continues to recover well since the surgery maybe 6 weeks ago...she was lucky! good luck-just pray for the angels to watch over you! if your doctor gives you any attitude or weird impressions-find a better doctor-some are better than others-trust your instincts! > From: Carol Green <greenlions@...> > Subject: New Intro > Joint Replacement > Date: Wednesday, April 2, 2008, 11:59 AM > Total Joint ReplacementHi everyone, I've been reading > messages for about a month or two and am getting closer to > my TRKR (April 29) so I thought I'd say hi. Guest guest
Hi! Like you my right knee was worse but, the left knee hurt more. My Dr. also suggested do the worst my right knee first. When I told him the left hurt more then the right knee his comment was. Once the right knee was replaced the left knee may become better because I may be making it hurt more by the way I was walking from the right knee was being worst. Over complicate one knee for the other. You may want to reconsider which one you do first and ask you Dr. about that. Great job on the weight lost keep it up. I will attend the " workshop/seminar " on April 14 but fortunately got the workbook so I could start exercises. I am a " morbidly obese " patient and need both knees replaced - so starting with the right one, which in the x-rays doesn't appear to my doctor as being as bad as my left knee, but it hurts worse - so we're starting there. We're (me mostly) really happy that it's almost time, because it seems like I've waited so long - started trying PT for the knees back in the summer of 2007, had back trouble after trying those exercises, saw a back doctor, then finally in September saw an orthopedic surgeon for my knees, he recommended cortisone shots in November (we were going to Disney and that's why I had started getting concerned about my walking and surviving Disney) and then in December did the snyvisc shots - but none of that helped at all - I'm bone on bone; so my doctor had a two month wait f! or surge ry (already booked up for two months) - so finally we're almost there ;-) I also belong to the knee_surgery group because I want to hear whatever I can about other's surgeries and advice! Guest guest
Hi Norma, Welcome to the group. is right, you really need to do some reading about your conditions, because the doctors are so busy or apathetic most of the time that we don't always get all the information we need, even when we think we are being treated. Roni Gracia <circe@...> wrote: hi Norma and thank you for joining the group. please join the iodine group http://www.iodine look at http://www.optimox.com http://www.helpmythyroid.com Gracia Hello, Thank you for allowing me to join the group. I am Norma from Ohio. Married to the same man for 39 years. I am 57 and grandmother to 5. I also happen to be a proud army mom. In Feb. I had to have a complete shoulder replacement done. Coming along very well with that but a week a go Friday I had to have a goiter that was full of nodules and my thyroid removed. I have been on synthyroid for 37 years. I am still waiting for the results of the goiter and the nodules. I go back to the doctor on wed. I called the nurse and asked if the pathologist report was in and she said yes but the doctor was not here. I said I have been waiting a long time to hear if there is cancer or not. She said I can tell you that there are far worse things than cancer to worry about. I said I was sorry I was sure there was but still did not tell me what was wrong with me. My doctor called me back and said something about a dysfunctional thyroid??? and said we have to watch the blood very very closely and something about my body attacking itself. Before surgery he put me on 50,000 mg of Vitamin D to be taken once a month and also a lot of potassium during and after the surgery, He said I have to be very careful about the calcium. Would anyone like to give me a few things to think about? I will know exactly on wed. Thanks to anyone who will offer. Norma/Ohio **************Need a new ride? Guest guest
Hello Everyone, My name is Joy and I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have been battling this disease for over a year. Unfortunatly, no one would listen to me when I complained about my symptoms. In fact I was put on antidepressants! What really started the process was an incidental finding of nodules in July. This finding led to an ultrasound which later said I had 3 nodules on the left, this was in August. My primary care doctor felt it was of no concern because my Tsh was normal. Never tested other things. so he said in six months I was to have a nuclear scan. February comes and the scan shows a 'cold " nodule. finally, I am referred to an Endocronoligist who actually listens to me. She orders lost of tests and schedules a biopsy. The biopsy occurred on Tuesday and it was at that time she let me know the blood work indicates that I am hypothroidism. She didn't want to put me on anything yet till she gets the biopsy results. So here I am now in limbo again! Although, I feel confident things will change after Friday of next week. I really want to just feel normal again. So many things keep going wrong with me and that is depressing. My question is will I ever feel normal again? Or is this forever? I pray right now I don't have cancer for if that is the case I am sure I will have more to deal with on that issue. I am so tired of having so many cavities and root canals. I am 46 and until now I have only had two cavities and now 6 plus a root canal and possibly another. I was told this is a problem when my calcium levels are low. New symptoms are my feet swelling. So any help would be appreciated
