Guest guest
Jerry, you just make my day. The emema was for the CT scan (where you get to drink the lovely barium:) that I had to have BEFORE the biopsy! LOL...the doctor was looking to see if the node that had shown up in the summer CT scan had enlarged. If it was there, then they would have had to biopsy it. Since I have Celiac Sprue, an enlarged node could have indicated Lymphoma. I didn't think that was the case, but she wanted to be certain. With all of these 'lovely' autoimmune diseases, she wanted to be careful, especially since the Sprue had not been dx for so many many years! So, it sounds like perhaps it WAS the lung that he had hit. Regardless, the pain is decreasing and there was no collapsed lung so far! With any luck, I will live long and properous! As for grandma....well, she was the oldest. She was our paternal grandmother. My materal grandmother was 96 when she died, and both maternal greatgrandmothers were 92 and 98, I believe, when they died. I figured that my life would be forever! When Mom died at 78, we were totally shocked! But unfortunately, Cancer does not recognize familial history! Yes, indeed, for grandma to have lived to 100 was awesome. She was born in 1898. She was horrified when we landed on the moon. " If God had wanted us to be there, He would have PUT us there! " was her only comment on the thing. And the space program! Well, for a woman who left the dust bowl to come to California to raise her children after burying 2 sons and almost having to bury a fourth (my dad was very ill as a child), living through the depression, two World Wars, etc......well, she never smoked, drank or hung with anyone who DID! Wonderful old woman! I hope I have her spunk. Heck, the ONLY reason she stopped driving at 98 1/2 was that she was so stressed when my dad died, that she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes and nearly ran over her oldest son. The car was ruined. She didn't want another car! WHEW.....we all were so thankful she hung up the keys!!! debby
