Its a black bear bile derivative, keeps your bile more viscous, more like olive oil than lard. Doesn't harm anything and I have never heard anyone here have problems with side effects. Good luck. Patty (Miami) AIH 80/transplant 97 Patty: I did not have any side effects when I first started Actigall (urso) 900 mg daily, but now I cannot take it at all (severe cramping, etc.). Will see what my new hep says, as Dr. Reddy left UM - I will be seeing Dr. Enrique Molina in a couple of weeks. My cholesterol is great - 166 w/o fasting, so we'll see.
