A personal reminder...to any and all who are using alternative and such...as I take Q10 and also SAMe. along eith the beneign med Epivir , I can't stress enough to CONTINUE taking the URSO/Actigall!!!! We know the short term effects of the two abouve but not happens after .....say....10 years..and we know URSO / Actigall have been used for many more years..I myself have taken .. them : )) forever. What do ursodiol capsules or tablets do?URSODIOL (Actigall®, Urso®) is a bile acid. [After gastric bypass Actigall reduces the rate of gallstone formation from about 30% to about 2%.] [The following information is intended for the more routine use of actigall to dissolve existing stones:]The drug helps dissolve gallstones in those who cannot have gallbladder surgery or who do not need the surgery. Ursodiol may be used with a procedural device that fragments the gallstone into smaller pieces; the procedure, called lithotripsy, allows the drug to dissolve the stones more quickly. URSODIOL IS ALSO USEFUL FOR CERTAIN LIVER DISEASE'S ; the drug REDUCES ITCHING and other symptoms. Generic ursodiol capsules are available. >EXCERPT >>>>>What other medicines can interact with ursodiol?•activated charcoal•antacids•cholestyramine•clofibrate, fenofibrate, or gemfibrozil•ciprofloxacin•colesevelam•colestipol•dextrothyroxine•female hormones, including estrogens or birth control pillsTell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Take ursodiol at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after an antacid dose.
