acidophilus.........how long is it good for?

I have a bottle of NOW acidophilus in my fridge that has been there

for awhile. How long is it good for? The bottle was opened but has

been tightly capped and the freshness container or pellet or whatever

you call them is still in there.

Expiration date is 2008. Are you supposed to use it up with in so

much time after you open the bottle? I am thinking it might be okay

if the bottle has stayed closed and they are in capsules.

Actually I am trying to convince myself not to throw them away unless

I hear otherwise.
