If the procedure you are talking about is called an ERCP, it really isn't painful at all. I had two of these procedures last summer. They were looking for evidence of a crossover of PBC along with my AIH or either gall stones blocking bile ducts. I was given something like Versed, and I didn't remember anything from either procedure.

Hello Friends,For those of you following my story, 6 months into prednisone (now at 15mg) and 2 months into Imuran(50mg) I began getting nausea and vomiting from the Imuran. In effect, no matter how much food, milk, time of day I took the Imuran, one hour later, there it was again. Gag me with a... camera?!So, after about 2 weeks of Nexium (cuts acid in stomach by half) and anti-nausea meds, I am still getting sick from the Imuran and it's not pretty! On Wednesday I went to my Hep. and they feel the prednisone has over time, wore down my stomach lining. Hence, that is why after 2 months of Imuran, it finally began to bother me and make me sick. No other signs of pancreas stuff either. Now, I have to go swallow a camera. Some GI procedure, where you are given some IV with valium (or like it) and then you have to swallow a tube with a camera on it. GREAT! Sounds almost as fun as my trans-jugular liver biopsy. By the way, who the heck ever thought of getting to your liver through your neck! Anyway, I suppose it's a good thing docs are getting a picture of my stomach through my esophagus, opposed to some other place! Don't give them any ideas!Has anyone had this procedure done before? Seriously, how much trauma am I in for? I wonder if any of you have had this type of side effect and this type of treatment.Anyway, I am very nervous and upset.
