You have every right to freak out at times! That's what we are here for. I don't think there's a single one in this group that hasn't freaked out over something at one time or another. That's the wonderful thing about our group. No one will ever make you feel bad for feeling however you feel.

take care.

Hi....I am just getting caught up with alot of emails that I missed over the last almost 2 months...my computer went down in Dec...and and just getting used to the new one and getting things rolling again...

I am one of the moms here...it is my son who has liver disease...he is now 21....was diagnosed at 16...he infact has 2 ...AIH adn PSC which effects the bile ducts...inside and outside of the liver....he also has some other auto-immune disease...Crohns...diagnosed at age 9 ..then Rhuematoid Arthritis and then Vasculitis...and some other issues due to all the auto-immune diseases...

but even with all that he does pretty well....ohhhh don't get me wrong he has plenty of times when he is feeling pretty bad...and has spent way too much time in the hosp these past 11 yrs....

but he is still trucking on...he is a full time college student....works in a speciality shop for off roading vehicles...jeeps and trucks...he owns a jeep which he has done alot to...he has a girl friend for the last 2 yrs...and she is now deciding to study to be a nurse...a plus for him that is for sure...since she will at least understand some of the stuff that goes on with him...

I was drawn to write to you...because I too have a son named ...lol ....but I have not had the pleasure of being able to learn much about you...so when you have the time I would love to learn more about you....so write what you like about yourself....

my is 25 and lives in Atlanta...he has UC since he was 3....but other wise is doing very well..

Tylers biggest problems in the last few yrs is his spleen...causing him pain and high fevers...

oh well...I hope to hear from you...

take care and talk soon

Hi,

It's a scary decision, isn't it? You're making the right decision about getting a second opinion if you are not 100% sure. Don't let the doc. talk you into or out of anything.

In the course of my treatment, I have stopped taking my 6 mp once. My levels went up within 3 months. I will try again....when, I'm not too sure - but I will try.Good luck & keep me posted!

Hi All,

I have been told by my new hepatologist, Dr. Jensen, head of Hepatology

at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, that he is going to attempt

to take me off Imuran next year.

He has treated 150 patients with AIH, and he feels that because I have

been doing so well that it may be worth the chance. I told him that my

previous doctor never wanted to attempt that, but he feels it is a safe

bet, in my case. I told him I didn't mind taking the Imuran if it

ensures a remission, but he said a relapse can occur even while taking

Imuran and that the drug isn't without it's risks as well. Well, I was

surprised to hear that. I thought it was a sure bet that the Imuran kept

the disease at bay. Do you think I should take this chance??? I would

try to get a second opinion on this at Mayo with Dr. Czaja before I did

this.
