Anita,

Just thought I would let you know a few things I learned about

prozac, zoloft, and paxil. Though they are considered non addictive,

you do still need to be tapered off of them as there is withdrawl

symptoms. If your doc says there isn't, he is wrong. And if you

don't taper them, you will know exactly what I am talking about in

about two days off of them. Second, if you have been on them as long

as twelve years - they really aren't having any affect on you anymore

any way. The way it was explained to me, is they have found that

once you are on them for an extended period of time, they are no

longer 'effective' and need to be increased or just stopped. Or

changed to another brand for the additional effect. The best time of

effectiveness of these meds is the first six months. After a year,

my doc said, you should be in much better shape and taken off of

them, so if you have another downward spiral, they will work again

for you. He said some people can even get a rebound depression when

on them for extended period of time. So either way hon, if you have

been on them for 12 years, you need to stop them. It sounds like

unecessary medicating. Just my two cents.

Love,

Carole K
