Go for the salmon and tuna,

Remember that tuna and other large fish may contain mercury. An article in the New York Times reported on a study of people in the U.S. who ate a lot of fish. These people proved to be largely prosperous, well educated, health-conscious people who were making a determined effort to add fish to their diet for health or ecological reasons. Many of these people proved to have mercury poisoning! The worst hit were children who routinely ate tuna fish sandwiches several days a week.

I can probably dig this article out of the NYT archives if anyone needs it.

Hmmm..I heard that for a pregnant woman but never for anybody else. But I

have no idea.

It should be interesting to hear what somebody who knows more about

nutrition then me has to say!

Subject: Tuna?

I often eat tuna for the ease and convenience; however, a friend was

telling me that eating it more than once a week is not good. I guess

it has something to do with the mercury.

Is this true?

Thanks

The same with me. I have only heard that about woman that are pregnant. Maybe

you could change it up with some turkey and chicken (in the same format,

canned).

There was an article in the Oregonaian about this a few months ago,

with recommendations for maximum amounts...I'll try to find it. as I

recall, it had to do with eating the older tuna (albacore) as opposed

to eating the younger tuns that had not absorbed as muich mercury.

I eat tuna several times a week and love it. Sandy R
