AlleyPat,

This makes me soo happy for you. You have gone a long road, and pray that

you remain undetectable.

I had my first three month viral count done, and I ,too am undetectable--

ALREADY! Being a 1b, cirhosis, and a pre-treatment viral count of 2

million, I feel extremely lucky and fortunate.

Alley you have been an inspiration.

Sending hugs,

Lora

Lorad and all,

So my question was going to be if anyone had a 3 month post test done but

you have answered that for me, is this usual? I thought that they simply

waited 6 months, why do it at 3 months when it is more conclusive at

6months? any ideas,

Suzy

Lora and Alley,

Yeah for you two - being undetected! This gives me hope that all this

" stuff " I am going through on treatment will have a positive result.

I am on week 7 of treatment and struggling with sleeplessness (the Ambien

does little to help me, dr. gave me a 10 mg dose), dehydration, diarrhea,

lack of energy, itching like crazy (just for the past week - scalp, legs and

face), and of course the ever dry dry dry mouth.

Lora, the drug rep was telling me (Scherring) that if you go undetectable on

treatment, you have about a 90% chance of staying that way and being

essentially " cured " . I don't know if what he said is true though. I am

going to ask my dr. about this on Thursday when I go in for my 2 month appt.

and blood draws.

I am so glad for you two!!!!

Sometimes " brain fog " is due to excess ammonia in your system. If that is the

case then leaving out

animal proteins in diet and taking Lactulose every day will help.

Edie,

I'm sorry you are having a ruff time. Drink TONS of water! Try keeping some

hard candy or gum handy for the dry mouth. it helped me. Use lotions and

oils in your bath when you can and some say Benadryl helped them with itchy

skin. But check with your doctor to make sure you can take it. There are

creams that might help, cortisone creams and benadryl creams. There is a

combo survivors guide on the net I'll see if I can find the url. Good luck!

Suzy....

Reishi Mushroom helps with brain fog. Also Ginkgo biloba but you have to

watch your platelettes if you take Ginkgo because it sometimes thins the

blood. Green tea is also good for brain fog, just remember not to drink

it too close to bedtime.

But, the only thing I have found that really cleared the brain fog was

acupunture. I asked my chinese doctor if he could do anything about it

and after the first treatment it was gone for about four days...now it

the treatments last several weeks. As long as we are on rebetron, that

blasted fog is a constant battle.

I know what you mean about feeling like you have alzheimers....and it's

truly frightening.

On the brain fog thing, it's wierd, but I have only mild liver inflamation

and I got it too. Even before treatment. I stopped doing my college work cuz

my brain just wasn't " sharp " . I didn't know what caused it at the time, but

now i just rack it up to another HCV virus infiltration. Or maybe its the

terminal case of blondeness I have hahah

Have a great weekend!!
