Hi, I'm new to this group. I just got diagnosed

over Christmas and have a few questions. Can AIH

be passed to others sexully? Did I get this

genetically or did some other virus trigger it?

And it is true I must remain 100% alcochol free

right? Thanks

Welcome Tim!

A virus did not cause this and you cannot transmit it to anyone. Your immune system is attacking your liver as if it were a foreign object. If your doctor told you to be 100% alcohol free, then yes, you must remain that way.

I'm in remission and have shouted from the roof tops that remission can

happen and for folks not to give up hope. You can be a guiding light for

those new people who, like you will have only a mild case.

Please don't feel like you don't fit in because your an important piece to

our LiverSupport puzzle.

Thanks Joan,

My name is Cheryl (in Ohio). I went into a spontaneous remission with my first flare, 6 years ago. I was undiagnosed with AIH that time, they blamed the problems on my pregnancy.

Right now, my biggest concern is not feeling like myself. So often

I feel like I am hearing myself say things and wonder why or how

those thoughts have come from me. At times I don't even want to

associate with others; I sit in my classroom during my 20 minute

lunch and check the messages this group posts in the morning.

, I hope your blue weekend is over and you are back to yourself soon. Thanks for your reply.
